New Ajax Director of Football Overmars: "Toons gone silent on Anita"

Anita has been on the Toons' watch list for some time now and Ashley did hand in a bid in June, but since Ajax rejected the bid all has been silent according to Marc Overmars, the new Director of Football of AFC Ajax.

The former Arsenal winger has returned on the payroll of the record championship winner in The Netherlands after almost 15 years of absence from the club. But in his first two weeks at Ajax he has not recieved a call from Newcastle.

Overmars: "Coach Frank de Boer want's to keep Anita at the club, and his contract ends in 2014. In my opinion he should stay with us. We are very content with his performance and we want to keep him here at Ajax. I am now two weeks at the club and i'veheard nothing from Newcastle United about a possible transfer for Anita. We will go into talks with Anita again in a couple of weeks if that situation has changed."

But if i had to make a good estimate about the amount of money Ajax might want for him, i'm guessing somewhere between 7 and 9 million quid.

 

In these day's of hardship they might cut their cloth and accept the best offer made.

 

Exactly. For example, if Tash's left hand knew what his right hand was doing with that monkey, it would be VERY jealous!

 

Doesn't he alternate though?

 

Think he would bring some useful quality in a couple of areas. Hopefully something can be sorted. He can play left back or midfield, both areas we need to beef up.
