Gary Neville analyses how Jose has overhauled Chelsea's squad in two years on a smaller net spend than the rest of the big 4 and Liverpool. Net spends since 2013 United £168m City £115m Arsenal £103m Liverpool £60m Chelsea £54m
Don't let your bitterness make you stray from he topic. Jose first manager to return to a former club and reclaim the title. In English history. Fakkkht
Mourinho has been brilliant; no question. But as we've said elsewhere, it's been very dull at times and always pragmatic.
That's an interesting fakkkht. Out of interest, how many title winning managers have been sacked and then rehired at a later date? I doubt there have been many as it's quite a humiliating and desperate thing for a chairman to have to do. Howard Kendell left Everton before rejoining them but was he sacked? Any others?
The fact is that Jose was rehired and won the league. No one else has. Other have tried and failed. a wee Scots fella down the road, you may have heard of him Kenny Dalglish Also, there is this other chap who managed a club called United before Sky came along. His name was Matt Busby
Using Sir Matt's "return" as an example is on a par with your claim that Chelsea did The Double this season. Dalglish is a fair comparison though.
Unfair? Did I say it was unfair? You'll have to direct me to that Katie. I asked which title winning managers had been sacked and then rehired. You came back with Busby and Dalglish. I mistakenly gave you credit for Dalglish. My mistake as neither was sacked!
I think net spend is important. However, it was considerably less important to Chelsea fans when taking the piss out of Spurs for spunking the Bale money.
Net spend was also considered irrelevant when Fergie sold Ronaldo but continued to dominate (in the true sense of the word) the league.
Neville's analysis can be summed up as...inheriting a thoroughbred racehorse, then spending a couple of hundred on a new saddle and boasting how good you are at training a winner on the cheap when you win the Grand National.
Idiots like Neville would do better in trying to analyse how Bournemouth, under Eddie Howe, have taken the Championship by storm, rather than trying to make out a case for The Smug One and his meglomaniac mad chairman in buying their way to glory. As soon as 'Pool, £ity, and United get themselves sorted out, The Smug One and Mad Dog won't get a look in, and The Smug One will be sent packing back to countries where the title is a one- or two-horse race. He'd do "wonders" for Celtic.
Naughty No One Famous. I merely posted 'Jose first manager to return to a former club and reclaim the title. In English history. Fakkkht', you introduced the sacking subclause. Matt and Kenny could not do it. They were one-spell wonders and got found out. Unlike Jose who succeeds everywhere from Unaio de Leiria to Porto to Inter to Chelsea + FFP
Best to point out a small, omitted fact in this little thread... Chelsea spent more than any of those clubs. As net spend is irrelevant, its suddenly not so impressive. That was easy.
If Jose is so ****ing brilliant how come Chavbus didn't win the league last year then ? lets see how long Jose lasts before he is sacked for a second time
Reckon he will last four years this time, but like when he left in 2007, he will leave us with a strong spine and mentality that will carry on winning trophies for years. The reason we did not win the league last year was mentality. We bottled it: something you guys know a lot about! Jose has rectified the mental side of that but it still needs some improvement: we are still not as mentally tough as 2004-12
