    Taken after we beat Chelsea.....

Raul Meireles has expressed his delight with recent performances after emerging as Liverpool's man of the moment as they target a top-six finish.

The Portugal international scored the winner against Chelsea last week to take his tally to four goals in five games.

Meireles was former manager Roy Hodgson's most lavish signing at £11.5million from Porto.

Yet, it is under caretaker boss Kenny Dalglish that he is producing the sort of form that is endearing him to the Kop as they have moved up to sixth.
    Support

Meireles said: "The fans have been with me from my arrival, but now my goals mean their support for me is bigger.

"I am a hard man but I get very emotional when they sing my name during matches.

"This is unique but I must say that while I am happy with my goals, my objective is not to become Liverpool top scorer.

"I know my limitations but I will always give 150%.

"As a foreigner watching Liverpool on television, I always sensed something about the club but it's only possible to really understand it when you are here. -

"To perform at Anfield and score goals is fantastic.

"I am privileged to play for Liverpool and perhaps in time I will think that I have fulfilled the biggest dream of my sporting life." - or can do one because you want more money.....

Really getting tired with players saying things to soothe us fans to turn face and let their real intentions out.

At least I don't have to worry about spelling his name right anymore......

Sorry this transfer has to be investigated. Its so obvious that a blind man can see it that Raul Mereiles was tapped up by Chelsea.

He hasnt featured much this season so no great loss, he had a purple patch last season. We just have to move on.

Does anyone else think Raul resembles Simon Brodkin's character Jason Bent?

When you support a club like Liverpool you invest in it - you buy tickets and merchandise (so do all fans) but you also invest your loyalty and emotion. I KNOW that even if Liverpool were relegated to the Blue Square Premiership, I would still be a RED.

The owners also invest their money. Sure they will buy into the history/culture of the club but financial return (or the prospect of it) has to be their prime motivation. Unless a club can find an owner with the riches (Abrhamovic, etc) who appear to have other motivations.

However, the majority of players are just like you and me when we go to work - we are ultimately there for the money. Sure we enjoy the atmosphere and culture within our work environment but we do not go there just for that reason we seek the rewards of our labour. When the 2 co-incide then you have an ideal situation. If you believe that you will be better-off (rightly or wrongly) working for another firm then you will at least consider the move. As fans we have to understand that. Hopefully most of us have had time to digest what happened with the Torres affair and learn from it. Meireles is no different.

For me, I will stick with what Kenny said about only wanting players who wanted to be there.

Find it amusing that Raul thinks of himself as " a hard man". I assume he meant emotionally and not physically.

Haha, yes. The lad tries to come across as a hard man but he couldn't tackle a fish super.

Him and Torres aren't going to get a good reception when they come back to Anfield...

I understand you are looking for things better ( chelsea have more $ and champs league), but there are ways to go about it, not leaving it late, When asked in asia are you leaving and you know you might be, don't say " no chance". Ways to go about it I guess should have been a better title.

Ah well, happy with the wy the team is shaping up and we got back some of our money on our transfers and have a nice little pot for January.
