Lads Watching Chelsea against us last week and against Everton, how often do they go through the middle and dont use any width at all. Is this the way with continental managers. Not for one minute am I saying it doesnt work but its fair to say it is not working for Chelsea as well as it has in the past the minute. In the past Chelsea played great stuff with Robben, Duff, today we still have wingers that can rip defences open if given the chance Lennon last week for instance. Is width and playing with wingers old fashioned, for me I still believe that it is the most effective way to attack defences. Thoughts lads.
First off, that was a cracking comedy! You've only got to watch Manchester United, to see that wing play is alive and kicking. Chelsea's problem is that their wingers do not have what Robben and Duff had for them, Pace! That's why they pack the centre of the pitch, to draw in the opposition wide men, leaving space for the likes of Ashley Cole to get down the wings. Chelsea's problem is that other clubs have cottened on to this now and know how to play against them. They will have to sign a couple of quick wingers in the summer if they are to compete successfully next season.
Wingers seem to be out of fashion these days, oh for a better version of Summerbee/Toshack , spelling permitting, Henderson could be one,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
