A great result in Basel tonight, Utd not even making the knock-out stages!! It's possible we may get to play Utd in the Europa but it could be that Utd get drawn to play Citeh again ( FA Cup semi last season, FA Cup 3rd round this season). Does anyone know when the Europa draw is?
Tee bloody hee. United AND City!! Someone the other day was asking about the odds on a City - United Europa Cup Final!! Could have made a few bob eh!! I still don't think that CL failures should get a second chance though, think I will pop across onto their boards and offer the same opinion!!
Potter No I don't mate.. I think it's next week? as tonights games in the UEFA Champs league decided WHO would make up the last 32. I want to know (what the format is? and are they over two-legs knockout? Potter, Ive just found out that our game with Besiktas is on ESPN next Wednesday not Thursday? Only three days after the Spurs game. IF we do win the group Potter.. are we (seeded) for the Europa next Feb? 6:00 p.m. is the K.O. time next week. I assume Utd/Citeh will be.(seeded)
Nicky A Fulham fan already has done that.. I don't think it's fair tbh.. he said as much.. 3rd place out of the UEFA and in the Europa should not happen but, we don't control what FIFA decide.
Im struggln to comprehend how a team travels all over Europe to prove themselves into a knockout stage in a competition and then all of a sudden 8 losers outa another comp comes into it ???? I suppose its never bothered us before but i find it a little strange and so will man utd and man city ! for me it shows a lack of respect for the teams that have already done what they have !!!!! But hey thats Fifa and we all know what a joke they r becomin !!! Man utd over 2 legs lovely lol
My thoughts on tonight were that the two Manchester sides are supposedly the best 2 sides in the premier league and yet have crashed out of the Champions league. Does this go to show how poor our league is? or were they just plain not good enough?
It's the same format as the champions league ( 2-legged, knockout with away goals rule [and extra time + penalties if necessary] )
How come now that Manchester United and City will be playing in the knockout stages of the Europa League the media decides to ridicule the competition? They are saying that the two Manchester clubs will now have to suffer the embarassment of playing on Thursday nights and them being shown on Channel 5. Stoke have dominated the Europa this season and I and many other fans have enjoyed the experience. But now it's all about Utd and City. Two articles in todays Daily Mail suggested that Utd may have to face the embarassment of facing Stoke City rather than the likes of Real Madrid or Barcelona. I don't know what other Stoke fans think but the Europa is our competition not that of the Champions League failures.
