Much banter on this site about where we have gone wrong etc etc and many have said that Swansea would be a good role model for our future, so read this statement from Huw Jenkins and see if you agree.

Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has watched his side progress from the bottom division of England's Football League to now become a League Cup winner and an established team in the Premier League.

He says a club's ambition should not be determined by how much money they spend.

"It's one of the problems within the game that so many people watching the game and within the game judge ambition based on using the cheque book," said Jenkins.

"It's sad that there's not more people that put the emphasis on hard work and common sense.

Can't see why any football team would want to run their club any other way do you??????

Mike I honestly believe the only way we could of gone forward is to go backwards. This relegation could be a blessing in disguise

It worked for them Shiny so we just have to hope that the top brass at BCFC have the common sense to put that theory in to practice rather than just talk the talk. Actions speak louder than words every time so just get it done is my message to the board.

They would be a great team to follow but as SOD said we need to find out what got us out of league 1 and what got us 90 minutes away from the premiership. We need that feel good feeling back as it hasn't been there since Johnson left. Its amazing what a bit of confidence can do. If we do come straight back up, That confidence could play a huge part for a serious promotion challenge in the championship. Things will get better.

Building Swansea as a model won't necessarily bring us success. Swansea's story is remarkable because it is paid off for them, while other teams that have tried to emulate that level of success haven't succeeded.

For the first time in a long time we need to embrace what has got us into this mess. We need to shift the dead wood, we need to get our stadium, we need to vastly improve our academy, and THEN we can start trying to emulate Swansea.

We're a club that likes to talk a good game, but the reality is that we have no focus. We were favourites to be bottom from the start, and we did nothing to stop that aside from some basic signings. Morale was low because we couldn't get our stadium and we did nothing to stop that. We needed to spend and we didn't, only then insisting that we would focus on youth, despite not having a successful academy or bringing a prospect from our academy in a long time.

It's easy to not spend money and to say "we're like Swansea", but if we're not going to fix our problems then we'll be with the Gas in League 2. If we don't start fixing these problems things will only get worse, mark my words.

This is true, well put Eastender

We can bang on about how we want to do things the Swansea way.

But if you want the truth of the matter The Gas now have a better chance of doing that way if you really want to copy Swansea. Bottom of the 4th division with a new ground on the horizon.

We need to learn from our mistakes and do it the Bristol City way. And that is re write the script and players mentality.

We have gone down, you can blame the board, blame the management blame the players blame the fans (if you don't have many through the turnstiles you don't get any income) its all a magic roundabout. But now it is the past, we move forward we might not get back up at the first attempt but when we do it we have everything in place. Not try and buy journeymen who have no allegiance to the club. Build from the base roots and hopefully it will happen.

But most of all we need to be patient with it.
