In: Altidore - 6m Giaccherini - 6.8m Mannone - 2m Karlsson - 1m Ba - 500k Mavrias - 1.5m Then let's say with loan fees we've spent 2.2m (including Borini) Rest are frees Total: (roughly) 20m Out: Mig : 9m McClean - 1m (?) Elmo - 2m And the imminent departure of Sess: Sess - 6m Total: (roughly) 18m Giving us a rough net spend of 2m. Ellis really has tightened the purse strings this time round... to be expected I suppose after first Bruce and then MoN blew loads of his cash on seriously average players... Who knows maybe we'll spend big tonight. I certainly won't be holding my breath though
Oh and if we sell Sess to a rival (WBA) that is incredibly stupid. I'm fuming at the prospect of selling to them. Why are we forcing hin out and bringing Borini in For ****s sake why
There will be a chunk gone on agents fees and signing on fees as well though, especially for the free transfers. I don't think you can blame ES for reigning it in this season. The amount that has been wasted on dross, sub standard, overpriced players ever since the Keane era is to blame.
Precisely. With all he's done for us its fair what he's doing But if we're to progress we are going to need to properly invest. He brought the new recruitment team so should trust them
Destroyed your own argument, as everyone always does, through an application of guesswork. We have very little idea of the facts so can come up with any kind of argument we wish.
Bruce only spent about £4 million net in 3 years at the club, if MT was 4 million and not 11 million like was first qouted. MON spent £20 million net. Our purse strings have been tight since Keane left (£80+ million net spent).
Because ( and I know a lot of us are split on this) he's pooooooooor. Just wait and see when he's at another club and watch as an outside observer.
Well we do have a pretty good idea when it comes to transfer fees. I said rough as it may be 1m or 2m off the actual total. Granted there is agent fees etc. But I'm talking transfer fees here. Just the same way I was only talking about transfer fees when saying we've spent less than in previous years
I'm not gonna bother looking up figures but I'm sure Bruce would have spent more than 4m 20m net spend is huge considering MoN was here for only 1 summer transfer window And 80m net spend with Keane? No way
Why bother mate, no one on these threads ever does ....... just pissing in the wind, without any disrespect.
I looked up the transfers for which my thread was about. My thread isn't about Bruce's net spend. It's about this season's net spend
We know what the club tell the media. We know the basics without the endless clauses. We know the fees/frees but not the enormous agents fees etc. We know MON and his buddies were paid off but we've no idea how many millions that cost. We know **** all tbh.
I did look it up Keane 06/07 £4million 07/08 £54million 08/09 £19million Total - £77 million (I wasnt far off) Bruce 09/10 £21 Million 10/11 + £11 million 11/12 1.6 million 12/13 Summer 13million (forgot to count this) £22 million but they have Turner at 12 million, he cost 4 so - 8 from 22 = £14 million in 3 years net spend. MON 12/13 20 million Not saying this website is 100% but i doubt it will be that far off. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/sunderland-afc/transferbilanz/verein_289.html
Wow. Who did we sign in 07/08 holy **** Over 100 million spent (net) since we got back in the prem and we just about survived relegation. That is embarrassing
People who believe transfers are the 'be all and end all' of a football club's finances are slightly misguided. It's like looking a lasses canny tits and ignoring the fact that she's a buck toothed ginger lass with a fanny the size of a holdall.
