I really have got difficulty with this, am I getting old, going soft or just plain being stupid, I cannot join in the personal insults with regard to Neil Warnock..

I can take the piss, enjoy the win, wind up our Welsh supporters of Cardiff City, laugh at their defeat, love the embarrasment they must be going through after some of them have been on our forum full of their own bullshit, I get all of that.

But after learning recently about his wife Sharon fighting and suffering from ' Breast Cancer' and going through that recently with my own wife ( All clear now, thankgod) I know what and I'm sure others know what that man and his chidren must be going through sheer, pure personal hell.

Football is one thing, life in general is totally different and very precious, for the sake of the Warnock family let's just keep it to football. I wish him and his family luck from the bottom of my heart.

Forgive my ramble and not aimed at anyone, just a personal comment.

As I've said before, I like Neil Warnock because he is good at his job and he is a character!!

Wasn't aware of the situation with his wife and that to me adds to his credibility as a football manager. Despite not having been in his professional situation, we all, as supporters, know how **** the role can be. Yes, there are great benefits to be enjoyed, but I'll tell you one thing - I'd never put myself up for it! I saw what it did to some at amateur level, so god knows what it like up there.

My mum died of breast cancer; in the early 80's I was due to work at Ashton Gate when she showed me the tumour that had broken out under her right armpit. She had not even seen a doctor at that point because she thought "it might go away". She got on with life as it was and lived for another 14 years, but I will never forget that day.

In the last year I've had two close friends battle breast cancer; one, at the age of 52 didn't make it. The other is now on chemo and things are looking good.

I'm with you Wiz about wishing Sharon, Neil and the kids all the best for the future.

Life is short; enjoy it while you can!!

Shame you didn't see fit to post such sentiments about our own manager last season.......

I still have my own thoughts and opinion of our new messiah,I thought it then, I still do now, this is free forum to express how we feel, you can tell me where to shove my thoughts and welcome, if you don't like them, then you know what to do.

My reason for this thread was to keep personal attacks away from a man and his family who's wife has cancer and keep it on football, totally opposite from your comment.

I think the point is you create a thread to stop the personal insults to an opposition manager, which is fair enough there is no need for personal insults on a football forum but then you quite happily send personal insults in the direction of our own manager

So you post on a Bristol City fans forum (a debating platform) a message asking people not to insult that nice Mr Warnock but at the same insulting our manager that every opportunity and you expect City fans just to sit there and ignore it?

    Have I missed something ?
Isn't Wiz talking about, literally, life and death.
As opposed to criticizing Johnson's performance as manager.
Surely we're not equating the two.

If I've got it wrong I'm truly sorry if in fact Lee's wife is suffering from a life threatening condition.

I thought that RP - not the same thing at all. All managers should be open to criticism on a footballing level and even a personal level regarding a fans dislike of them for a variety of reasons, but it looks to me that wiz was highlighting a different matter altogether.

The crass and hurtful ways some - and probably very few - attempt to get at a manager through their personal circumstances is appalling. In highlighting that he is perfectly correct. If wiz has had a go at Johnson's family or the like then that'd double standards, but I've no knowledge of that - otherwise a fair thread.

To be fair, thankfully (to my knowledge) no-one has targeted Warnock specifically because his wife is sick - anyone who does so is frankly disgusting. Anyone moronic enough to send death threats to LJ is in a similar league.

I also don't think that personal affronts of any kind are called for against any manager - perhaps very gentle 'banter', such as Warnock's resemblance to a pantomime dame is ok, or LJ being a hobbit(!).

That said, I think Warnock's fair game to be called out on some his comments on this match and others. It seems as though any match he doesn't win (never mind lose) he blames the ref, and him saying that Cardiff were the better team and 'in control' before the sending off is laughable. At best it was fairly level, but most neutral observers seemed to agree that the home side had had the better of the game at that point and worthy of the win come full-time.

It's common for managers to shield themselves and their teams from criticism, but I understand why many think that Warnock goes beyond the norm in his lack of grace when losing and it being a part of why he's disliked by many - another big part though is that he's often tasted success, so there's a certain amount of the green-eyed envy at play.

This is crazy, I have not made any criticisms, comments or had a go at Lee Johnson's family, friends or rhubarb plants in anyway, I have made my points of view about his football capabilities, both good and bad perfectly clear and that is where it remains.

For the record I wish Lee, his wife, his family a long and happy life, good luck to them.

There has been an attempt to divert this thread away from the point for what it was intended, I wish Neil Warnock, his wife Sharon and their children all the happiness they can get, I hope Sharon has a complete recovery from cancer,

Football is just a game, life is precious and much more important.I take the piss out of Warnock and his football involvement, always have, personal attacks on family, I have never made on Warnock, Johnson or anyone else.

I don't think anyone's accusing you of anything like that Wiz - Supcon may have been picking up on the fact that you've been one of the more verbal critics of LJ and Lord knows you and I have had a couple of back and forths over the level of criticism thrown his way professionally and what he needs to do to win you round, but everyone knows that you haven't stooped to a personal level and your opinion ends before that. :emoticon-0148-yes:
