Home against them will be minging - 4 centre halves, 2 defensive midfielders and playing for set pieces. Like Reading, but more effective
sure he was there in the mid 90s. Their lass will probably want him out from under her feet. In all honesty, there was a point when we were totally rudderless, no knowing what or where we needed to be, people that were there for the double dip relegation know what im on about, sat in the sol, about 12 thousand there in a 49 thousand seater stadium and probably goingti get beat, I wanted us to go and get Warnock, just for a bit of something other than the absolute dross we were subjected to.
Sounds a bit like Roker Park in late 1972 prior to Stokoe's arrival. 5 months later when the rush for Cup Final tickets started, there were over 100,000 claiming they hadn't missed a game all season. Ha Ha
First game I went to that season we bear Boro 4-1 at Roker and I bought a couple of season tickets talk about luck.
something very similar going on up the road at the minute. People going to 3 home cup games saying they should have priority over people with 30 year time served. It's like when we got to the play off final, People I hadn't spoken to in years coming out the woodwork.
Was always going to happen. I expect my BIL will be going even though I've been to more Newcastle games than him in the 15 years I've known him. "Massive Toon fan though. Dyed in the wool etc etc"
First one I went to with mates rather than my brother, think it was 4-0, but still marvellous way to get he bug. http://www.thestatcat.co.uk/Match.aspx?MatchID=1567&LU=S&LUID=94 just looked it up, couldn’t remember scoring 3 in 5 minutes and nobby stiles was their sub!
The bottom of the Championship is really interesting at the minute. Not all of these new managers can keep a team up. Warnock was a great manager in his time, but this is a club in freefall, that's been unsettled this season and it may be too big a job to fix in such a short time. If anyone can turn them around though, he's got a chance. Cardiff appointed Lamouchi and have lost their first 3 matches under him. They look in the most danger to me, though in isolation, you would have expected them to lose away to Luton and Hull, and against Boro. They have a couple of more winnable games coming up next and beating Reading could change the complexion of things down there. Wigan appointed Maloney who is a fan favourite and he's taken 4 points from his opening 2 games. It's just the new manager bounce they needed, but they're short on quality and have a difficult run coming up. Blackpool appointed Mick McCarthy but have only taken 2 points from his first 4 games in charge. Mick has vast experience at this level and will give them a chance. Rotherham might be considered the smallest club down there, but I think they did great business in the January window, strengthening their spine with Bailey Wright, Conor Coventry and Jordan Hugill. I think they'll be ok. Then there's the 3 clubs dropping down the table that would be shock relegations at this point: Stoke - Next 2 games are Huddersfield (H) and Blackpool (A). Failing to win at least 1 of those matches will put them on the brink of the bottom 3 and put Alex Neil out of a job. Reading - No win in 7 and their next 3 games are Rotherham (H), Cardiff (A) and Blackpool (H). What follows is a 10 game run that I can't see them winning more than 1, so if they're closer to the relegation zone after those 3 games than they are now, they're in serious trouble, QPR - There might already be enough points on the board and enough left to win for QPR to finish safely in midtable, but they've not won since before Christmas (8 matches) and they've played Huddersfield, Reading and Cardiff in that time. Neil Critchley was a highly sought after manager at this level, but he's started very slowly at QPR. They need a win more than ever against us tonight or they will start to look over their shoulder.
