Neil Warnock was interviewed by Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning as I drove into work ... sifting through his usual meandering, sycophantic "you know what it's like Alan ..." drivel his reasons for not taking the job appear to be that: ... the Algerian owner wanted too much input into how the team would play and perhaps even team selection ... Warnock frequently mentioned how he thought Zola would ultimately get the job because "he's done that sort of thing before" a rather unsubtle reference to the owner wanting to bring in players in the same way that Watford had acquired them under Zola's tenure ... but this time perhaps Algerians or at least from Algerian (African) teams rather than an Italian connection ... ... for what they (the owners) wanted Gary Brazil would be ideal in the short term ... the implication being because he will do what the owner wants because he has no opinion and will just do as he's told... ... a rather caustic allusion to 'foreign owners' not really understanding our game etc ... ,,, and perhaps the funniest bit ... that they had at least taken his ideas on board by immediately signing Peltier on loan (so that was his solution to the current malaise ) but that had now fallen through once Lee became aware that Colin wouldn't be manager and had now signed for Bolton instead ... (which completes the exodus of our 'disruptive dressing room types by the look of it) ... All rather bizarre - I was left with the impression that the owner probably said something like "Neil, I would like you to turn our season around but whilst still trying to play attractive football in the manner that this club's history would expect. I already have some connections in the middle-east and would want you to explore these in terms of recruiting talented players to fulfill our ultimate ambition." ... which Neil has diluted to ... interfering foreign owner insisting on entertainment rather than just grinding out results in the old fashioned way.... "nah, I'm not having that"....
