Neil Warnock eyes new QPR deal

NEIL Warnock has admitted he would be keen to extend his current contract at Loftus Road by another year or two before he retires – and wants to have a say in naming his successor.
The QPR boss is enjoying a thrilling swansong to a colourful managerial career, but although he turned 63 this week, he can see himself prolonging his involvement.
“I've got this season and next season on my contract and I think beyond that, maybe I will stay in the game one year or two at the most,” he told the Chronicle.
“But if I extend my career, I won't be looking at anyone else because I don't want to move out of London now. I absolutely love London since I've been here and I wouldn't dream of moving out.
“Of course it depends on whether I'm allowed to stay here, but I want to, because I love the club. That's why I'm even more determined to get results – so I can keep in the job.
“I certainly want to stay just as long as I'm enjoying it. If I didn't enjoy it I'd be out like a shot."
Warnock admitted the defeat at Norwich on Saturday was a low point this season, but that the bigger picture is so encouraging, he is addicted to the job.
“I was more disappointed on Saturday than at any time this season, because we showed defensive frailties which have plagued us over the last three games," he said. "Really our strength before that was our defensive organisation and I've been disappointed with the goals we've conceded.
“But I absolutely love it and I tell you what, I'm going to fight tooth and nail to stay there and all, because it's a fantastic league and I think we've grown up as a club.
“Tony Fernandes has given us that little bit of impetus since he took over and Amit Bhatia came back and I'd like to take it to the stage where I help them pick the next manager.”
Warnock added: “I've put in my programme notes for Saturday that you look at some of the Premier League clubs where the managers, boards and fans are maybe not against each other, but not pulling in the right direction and we're not like that at all. "Everybody's pulling in the right direction here because they know how quickly and how far we've come and it's fabulous to be involved in it.
“Of course I'm disappointed we haven't got six or seven more points, but we're doing all right and we've got to keep moving forward now.”

Hope Neil extends his contract, has been exactly what our club has needed.

Continuity is the key to success and Warnock deserves that backing...

hmmmm i dread to think of where we would be if it was not for Neil, he saved us from league 1 and made us a premiership outfit in just over a year, what a man.

You have to agree with his concern over the defensive frailties, though. I appreciate this is a higher division than last season and our back four personnel has changed significantly, but... Oh, for the Scrooge-like mentality of last year.

Its interesting when you look at the current goal difference: you can put it down to the two thrashings at the hands of Bolton and Fulham. Would be great to keep a clean sheet today and win by a good margin.

Hope Neil stays a long time. He's brilliant and we need some continuity.
