    Can't quite go that far! .. but will acknowledge an excellent riposte ... whilst my memory may be clouded by time, I recall that I was particularly incensed in that season that Shearer escaped a ban for his emotional blackmail after a blatant act of thuggery whilst Matt Elliott received one because his elbow accidentally caught Michael Owen's bonce as they were sprinting after a ball ... and that despite Owen's supportive comments that he felt it was pure accident and due to the size differential as they were running.. never had much respect for the FA anyway but that was it for me after that ..

    I haven't got a massive problem with cole but always thought shearer was a prick and a miserable sod.

    I remember how much that incident with Elliott incensed me too.

    I could be remembering it wrong but Elliott didnt get sent off for that incident did he? He was banned afterwards, which was something they didnt really do back then
