What does everyone think we will do with Neil danns? Do you think he will be given another chance or do you think he will be loaned out again. I can't see many queueing up to buy him, unless he takes a big wage cut. I personally would like him to stay and add that little bit extra to our midfield.
The main problem with the likes of Danns and Beckford is the ridiculous wages Sven offered. If they were on "normal" Championship wages, I believe we'd have been more than happy to keep them. Alas, with FFP round the corner, it would be best to get them off the books.
Nobody knows for sure what salary he is on, and nobody knows for sure exactly what happened with him. Personally, I hope he stays. When he was on our subs bench with Beckford early in the season, I did notice that they were laughing and joking with each other. Maybe if Beckford goes (or when Bolton can find a pen that works), he may knuckle down under the influence of others. Time will tell - but with all the players that are rumoured to be leaving, it leaves our squad very short.
That's fine saying "get them off the books" but that will only happen if someone else is prepared to pay his wages (if he accepts a wage cut that is) if not, all he has to do is be prepared to train with the kids for 30k a week or whatever he is on. For this reason, I say play him!!!
Aslong as we can get Danns wages down then I would be happy to keep him. But if we cant then we need to get rid. His ability doesnt match his wages We missed someone like Danns last season but there is a few obstacles for him to stay. First he needs to get on the same page as Nigel Pearson again. It was a mystery to us all what happened with Danns. He was given the number 8 shirt and used in the kit unveiling and we all thought he would be the main man in midfield. We all guess that his use of social media has cost him his career here but maybe now with Danny Drinkwater possibly leaving and Nigel struggling to bring people in maybe Danns might still have a future here. If Danns left he wouldnt get nothing like the wages he is on here so maybe he would consider extending his contract but on lower demands. That way he is still making more money then he would sitting out his contract and leaving and the clubs cuts his wages considerably. It will be very hard to do but it could be the clubs best option
Your boss comes along and says "sorry made a mistake, can you take a wage cut" I doubt you would say sure, go ahead. Not Danns fault whatever his salary is. We just need to hope that he shows us he is the class act we believe he can be. Failing that then we might as well let him walk away for nothing as appears to be happening with Beckford.
I think the reason that alot of these players have been sidelined is because they put their wages above their love of football...
I doubt there is a single player on our books that does not put their wages above their 'love of football' (with the possible exceptions of those emerging from the youth teams) ... the vast majority of footballers these days are mercenaries who will ply their trade to the highest bidder (i'm not complaining about that by the way - it's just the way it is) - wasn't Danns fault that we offered him wages that tempted him here rather than to other suitors that were sniffing around him at the time - that said he still needs to perform. Personally, I rate him - always have - was really pleased when I first heard we had got him - he can certainly play and has that bit of steel that the rest of our midfield lack a bit and we were crying out for him during the poor run last season and I believe we missed a trick by not recalling him (just my view). What has intrigued me is that he is prominent in the very recent training photos - and I really hope that he will be included and proves what a good player he can be.
... the reason they were sidelined has more to do with attitude and, specifically, falling out with the manager - I doubt it had anything to do with wages. Even the possibility of Beckford triggering money to Everton with another appearance would have been peanuts compared to the finances from promotion - so don't think money had anything to do with it.
He has been in a few. As my username suggests I am a big fan of his. Think he'd definitely work well in a midfield 3 with king and james. i'd keep him if he has the desire to achieve success here and is willing to work for it
Football is a job for the overwhelming number of pros. end of.. like anybodies job you become cynical and look after number one... that's why I am losing a bit interest ... the customer should be number one...but these days we are an after thought. Ive just about had a gutfull of it all... the whole game is disappearing up its own ego..
Unless my eyesight is going completely - there's a load here (click through them) and isn't that him leading the run in the first? http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/story-19494250-detail/story.html#axzz2YRBaftMh
