Daily Mirror reports Hull City are ready to push the boat out to land him on a free, Nigel Pearson aims to beat off rivals with a Lucrative deal. His contract ends in the summer with Crystal Palace. What do you think!!!!
This isn't actually a new story, we tried to sign him in January but failed and Pearson said at the time that we'd try again in the summer. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/h/hull_city/9386504.stm He'll be a great addition if we pull it off, though I suspect there'll be other clubs after him.
Why will he be a great addition? Palace have him and Ambrose in the middle so you wonder how they are so poor.
That doesnt mean a great deal to be fair Strovolos. You could have put Rooney in our team at the start of the season and we'd still be crap
Palace leak too many goals, without scoring enough, but Danns has scored eight so far this season, he's a very tidy player and he controlled the midfield in their recent televised game. I definitely think he'd be a great addition.
I rate that boy, he's quality. We were in for him in January or last summer I seem to remember, but for whatever reason it never came off. The last few times we've played Palace, too, he's looked head and shoulders above the rest of their team. On a free he'd be a cracking signing!
I know very little about the player to be honest. But I'm concerned he is not the type of player we need. I think we need a highly experienced quality player to MANAGE the midfield. That kind of player would be a "Long-in-the-tooth" Premiership player who would also fulfill the Captaincy role. We lack leadership in midfield. We fail to keep the ball at important times which then puts pressure on an otherwise excellent defence. That defence might not be breached, but it still takes the emphasis off controlling the game. This, I think is borne out by the posession stats of virtually all our games this season. That kind of player, I doubt is Neil Danns, who I see as a direct competitor for Corry Evans role. (ps. not disagreeing with you here, I simply need to see what he will bring to the table)
I can't say I know much about Corry Evans (is he Jonny Evans brother?) but from what I've seen of Danns think of him as an "Anderson-lite". Good technique, probably scores more goals than the Manyoo boy, but he tracks back, tackles, and his passing is good. Him and, as you say, an old head would probably make a cracking combo if you could get it right, you'd probably see Danns kick on again then too imo.
Corry Evans is indeed Jonny Evans brother and he'll be our first summer signing, as we've already agreed terms with Man United. I see Danns playing Harper's role, only being a better passer of the ball, a better header of the ball, a better distributor of the ball, a better tackler etc. I know you can't read too much into YouTube compilations, but here's some clips of the first six games of this season.
The Mirror says "Danns has been a major part of the Eagles arrival revival under Dougie Freedman, but this is one of his final pay-days and the chance of a major deal at Hull may see him leave." Final pay day? He's only 28 ffs.
Sorry if this has either been touched on or totally wrong only had time to read half the posts, but I'm almost certain Danns signed a new deal at Palace not so long ago. Could be wrong, was told by family who support them.
I'll be extremely happy if we manage to get Danns on a free, it'll be a coup. He's a very good box to box midfielder and would be a great addition to our current system.
Agreed. What a signing this fella would be.For me one of the best in the division at what he does, if not the best.
