Your right I apologise , its worst home record since the 40s, its only worst in the League since the 50s.Worse than the years Houllier,Rafa and Evans were all sacked
Houllier went on to win the French League, and with Rafa, everyone now wants him back. I agree that Evans was just not up to the job, but Hou and Rafa were wrongly driven out by fair-weather fans not giving them more time. When you consider that Houllier had heart trouble, and made two bad purchases, and it was his team that won the Champions' league the following year. Then you have Rafa, who brought in Pepe, Alonso, Torres etc... and came so close to winning the league, then has one bad year, and is out.... it is madness, good managers need more time to turn things around. Everyone talks about O'Neil, yes he gives a squad that massive initial boost, but history shows that after that his teams level out, then decline, then he walks out in a huff. No manager has the magic to turn things around like replacing them with someone else to galvanise the players, but it is always a short term fix that never solves anything. Let me tell you about this manager we once had. This little Scottish guy, arrived in 1959, and by 1964 had rebuilt the team and got them promoted back to the top flight, culminating in an F.A.Cup win in 1965. But then the team went into decline, and needed rebuilding again. Now strangely, this manager was not sacked in 1966, and bizarrely enough, he wasn't sacked in any of the following4 poor years either. Liverpool lacked real success, and yet the stupid fans did not force this failed poor manager out of the door. Luckily by 1970, the little Scottish guy had once again rebuilt the team, and from 1970 onwards, the team went from strength to strength for a couple of decades. Now maybe, if the board had acted in 1966, we could have had greater success in 1967, of we could have carried on as a WBA, or Aston Villa, but no, the board had sense, and Liverpool became the greatest team in this country. Wouldn't it be good, if this current board, showed the same level of support for the manager, and they jump started another 2 decades of all conquering success?
