Sorry to make another another thread so quickly.

But, I need some advice on travelling!

After our European adventure in the autumn. Me, and one of my friends have decided another adventure is in order. We have decided, to head out to Asia. Now, due to the amount of time we both took off from work in September. We will only have around 28 days to venture Asia.

So, would it be at all plausible for the both of us too trek to Shangai, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Seoul, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Beijing in such a short space of time?

Secondly, can anyone recommened any other places around that area to visit?

    Many thanks

Well Beijing is absolutely nowhere near many of your other places so to fit it all into 28 days would mean either much expense on plane fares or eating into a lot of time by travelling via other means.

I've not been to that part of the world myself but I know a lot of people who have and in fact know somebody who is leaving to pretty much live over there very soon. I'll recommend Laos because it is generally the first place everybody mentions with suprise and excitement.

Personally I prefer to spend a little more time in each and visit a few less places. There's a lot of big cities on that list mate doesn't sound very relaxing.

So far to go, so much to see, so little time to see it all.

ToonSi might be the best person to ask.

Yeah, it's an idea that has literally developed over this course of the morning. Our geography of Asia isnt amazing <laugh>

I've just had a sudden urge of excitement! Like Skalpel has said too, I've only heard good things about Laos from friends and relatives.

    Got some serious planning ahead

BEST holiday I EVER had was in Borneo at Shangri-La's Rasa Ria hotel. Really gorgeous. You can get a boat out through the mangroves into the jungle and stay there for a few nights as well and just explore with the guide by boat. Also, the hotel is attached to an orang utan rehabilitation center. Went to loads of other stuff as well. The hotel itself was actually heaven. When I die, that's where I want to go <laugh> Two weeks was not long enough (except maybe for my bank accout <laugh>

    Also worth going to Sandakan

So yeah, if you get a chance :)

Go to either Kuala Lumpur and head off in to the Highlands and down to the east coast when you've had enough of the city (it won't take long). and /or singapore and head off into Southern Thailand than to the islands in the gulf of Siam

Start off in Bangkok and train travel down the country towards Kuala Lumpur. It's cheap and cheerful. From there you can head off to Singapore via train.

Fly to Hong Kong but don't stay on the main island as it's pricey. The smaller isalnds all have ferry links to the main island anyway.

Train from Hong Kong to Shanghai. Takes a while but you'll see more of the country than flying.

I'd then fly to Taiwan. Fly to Beijing.

Fly to Seoul and fly back home.

Easy to do in 28 days.

Think there was a TV programme about that rehabilitation center, very enjoyable. Must be good to see it first hand.

It's a similar plan the wife and I were hoping to do about 6 years ago but before we could book everything she announced she was pregant.

We were going to start in Bangkok and head down towards Singapore before heading to Borneo, then off to Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul and finally Tokyo before coming back via Fiji, Hawaii and Chicago.

We still plan to do it when miniOTallows.
