Hello people. I'm currently in Nottingham (beeston) and won't be setting off till around 11:30. Am I going to make it before kick off? @Smug in Boots not sure if it's you that was/is down this way in Mansfield?

My sat nav says 2hrs 43 but guessing that's not taking match day traffic into account! Just want to know if anyone has done it before as I think smug used to live down this way

My average time is just under 3 hrs from Sandy to Sunderland. I'm what, about 80 miles-ish south of you.

Depends how conscientious you are on the road Marcus.

Give yourself time to park up as well!

I think you can do it! Go for it. Just don't kill yourself, or anyone else for a footy match! <ok>

The google one includes a traffic estimation taking into account the match and road works.

We travelled back from Centre parcs at Sherwood forest yesterday and it only took 2 hours back to Teesside. Add on another 45 mins to Sunderland and another half an hour or so for weekend traffic, your probs looking between 3&4 hours.

Just leave in plenty of time (now) and you'll be okay :emoticon-0105-wink:

Smug lived down there (Carlton) for a while, and Young Smug lives in Mansfield, which is where they travel from . . . . but Smug's touring for a few weeks (until shortly before the 'derby' match), so he might not be available to help :emoticon-0100-smile

There are big problems just after M1 hits the A1M mate. Youll need to satnav around it.

I travel Gateshead to Nottingham every couple of weeks.
    Latest yesterday.

The route by Funky is sound for you.
It's taking you the quickest route out of Nottingham.
On the M1 you'll have a 10 mile stretch of roadworks approx 10 miles north of Nottingham.
Going the M18 route will miss further roadworks on the M1.
Roadworks on A1 don't start till Leeming Bar, so you miss them by taking the A19.

Aye but think it's between Leeds and Sheffield. M18 should take me around that. According to the Bec traffic anyhow!
