I know I am probably stating the obvious, but we ALL know HH is not up to the job and nor is Bothroyd. If we had had Tonys millions before we bought him in, we would have signed someone better. I just hope we are in a position in January that warrants a big spend. The way results are going at the moment, I fear for the rest of the campaign. We have not played anyone that finished in the top 6 last season yet! We are going to get murdered in the next 3 games.
Adel tarbuck seemed like he did not want to score, team seem to be going backward, hopefully they are saving their best for next week.
Maybe Warnock wanted to protect the point, but thought he could've gone two up-top for the last 10-15 mins, especially seeing as we dominated possession. A lot of the play looks like last season's stuff; whilst then we managed to nick the win, this time we're not getting close. Bit worrying but wanna try to remain a little up-beat if possible considering our next few matches!! Bit gutted that Norwich and Swansea have got their home form too. Still, bottom 3 all in big trouble, so hopefully they'll continue in the same way!!
Trouble is, the bottom 3 are only a few points behind us! I m trying to remain positive but the realist in me is shouting '**** ME, WE'RE IN THE ****'!!!
Think we need more than a goalscorer. Need another CB, and not convinced at all about Barton - maybe our style of play or the players around him just don't suit him, or maybe he is jus overrated - I really don't know. W-P looked out of sorts today.
Chill peeps. This was always going to be a hard slog and things aren't too disastrous. Given Campbell's out for the foreseeable future I'd like to see Mackie given a go as the main striker with Taarabt and SWP either side.
Still too defensive at home, one of Derry,Faurlin or Barton has to go and play 2 up top.The one player we do have who could play as a striker is Tommy Smith but he seems to have been forgotten altogether!
Evenin' all. Agree with Hammer that we don't need three anchor men. They seem to get in each other's way with one invariably left redundant. Taarabt seemed in a good mood at half time today. Out on the pitch during the team talk before the other subs. Was over our side giving it all the ball juggling, flicks, tricks, balancing it on his head, swallowing it, ****ting it out the other end... the works. Brilliant - until he came on and pretty much like the rest of the shower, couldn't string a move together! Not our day today - and yep, you're all right folks. We badly need a savage presence up front. Yawning gap where the centre forward should have been be most of the second half. Forwards all wanna be wingers! Another reality check. Stand by to limp all the way to the new year. Then the cheques will start flying around like Airs Asia and Malaysia! Fernandes ain't gonna trade on this crap. No good for the image you know...
We didn't win enough in the air, and what we did win we gave right back to them. Blackburn just seemed to have taller players and longer legs as the ball ping-ponged about. They intercepted our few accurate passes and the loose ball always seemed to end up with one of them. I know Bothroyd has not been much cop, but we had probably the three shortest people on the pitch in our attack. I was unimpressed by Barton (again). A thoroughly disappointing and rather depressing game. I wish I knew what the solution is.
Adel was clearly kept on the bench to stop him getting a bus home halfway through and for generally acting like a twat! We could easily ship 15 goals in the next three games! I think some teddies may be launched out of the playpen!
You are not going to win a lot in the air without a massive presence up instead of three shorthouses up front. If that isn't working, then play it on the ground. So what do they do? .... just keep playing the same. Someone needs to be able to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, pass the word around, try something different. Barton should be doing that as captain ... but his ego is as big as Adel's. WAKE UP NEIL. Play to your strengths ... not your opponents!
: Agreed Eamon, I hate being a grump, but today's effort was shocking. Why after the twentieth time of hoofing it into the hole for Samba to gobble up, and it not working. They then thought it will work next time and the subsequent fifteen times. I can't remember Kenny passing once to one of our defenders and trying to play football from the back. Maybe Warnock tried the old 'The suns in their eyes trick.' ( I was half blinded in the upper Loft myself. ) Let's just hope that this is our blip!!!!
I did say our lack of height could cause us problems in some games,so why we were hoofing it upfield to Tiny Tim and the other circus acts God only knows.Still looking on the bright side we've got Stoke away in a few weeks, that should be fun with Delap and his Steve Austin throw ins bombarding us all afternoon!!
A compelling argument...............................not! I admire your optimism, but can you tell me where you think we'll be in 2 months? Face the facts. we should already have more points on the board than we have. If we have serious ambitions to stay in the Premiership we should be beating teams like Blackburn at home. Let me have your predictions for the next 3 games.
every game our weekness is becoming more apparent. we,re toothlesss up top, and too slow and predictable in midfield. derry, faurlin and barton does not work.
In two months time we'll be in the bottom three, no amount of wailing or gnashing of teeth is going to make a blind bit of difference we're stuck with what we've got. Our squad is too shallow to do any better when we've got injuries and the 'strikers' we have, and I use the word strikers advisedly, are not good enough to play this system with effect in the Premier League. Tell me something we all didn't know at the end of deadline day. Our target is 17th place for this season and it won't change before the final day of the season, we are in this situation because the Goons did nothing in the summer other than hold out for personal profit at the expense of the team, what has happened is entirely predictable. As for asking what the predictions are for the next three games do you expect me to say we'll pick up 9 points? More likely is we'll concede 9 goals in one of them but I won't worry until the end of January and I see what is being done to add quality to the squad, then we will see whether Warnock can deliver...
