With City riding high at the top of the Championship table this season I was wondering how far they had come since last season and have managed to find where they were after 38 games of last season, which is how many we have played so far to date. https://www.worldfootball.net/schedule/eng-championship-2017-2018-spieltag/38/ As you will see our 2018/19 season is 4 points behind Wolves at this stage last season & 2 points ahead of Cardiff who are 2nd. our total of 52 points from 38 games last season is 26 points fewer than what we currently have so far this season.
On all the football Podcasts they say as a throw away comment how amazing Wolves were, and walked the league! To hear we are only 4 points behind them, and they cheated FFP and got in loads of Champions League quality youngsters for the Championship. Really Impressive.
An excellent post FML and as you quite rightly point out, Wolves flouted the FFP rules to the extreme by signing Portuguese players thanks to Mendes' contacts. He EVEN signed the Portuguese GK this season. Whereas what SW/DF have done is the complete opposite and if you take out the transfer fees of Klose/Pinto, the most we paid for any player was £1.5M and I dread to think how much the likes of Jota etc SHOULD have cost and what their salaries are.
Good spot General When you think he’s being kept out of the team by a 21-year-old who AN signed for £750K at the same time as he spent TEN times that on waste-of-space Naismith!!!
Klose and Pinto were bought when we were in the PL as well I believe, so I don’t really count them as big spending relatively speakinng
