Dark horses for the top 10, possibly. I think we've now got about 4 players who are Europa league standard (RvW, Fer, Bassong, Ruddy), so we're going to need more investment to consider anything higher than that a possibility.

Forty points by the start of April and I will be delighted.

What does "Europa League standard" mean fella?
I reckon we've got more players who wouldn't look out of place in that competition than those four, Djimi Traore has a Champions League winners medal for example <yikes>

I'd be delighted with a top 10 finish and it would show how far we've come since the dark days of League 1.

Sorry Tony, I meant if we were to qualify for Europa through league position, those are the players who I think would be good enough to do it. I agree there's some godawful teams/players who play in it from other countries. And a lot more of our squad could certainly compete if we were ever to qualify. I guess it would have been simpler to say that the players named are possibly good enough for a top 7 finish.

I understood it to mean that we could finish in the top half of the league (like Swansea/West Brom did this season) and be edging towards Europa League positions!!

we were only 4 points behind those sides last season. it's hardly a 'leap of faith' to say we can move above them

And we were 28 points adrift of the lowest team qualifying for the Europa League by virtue of league position - just in case anybody is seriously thinking of looking in that direction. My realistic hopes for next season range between a total of 48 points ( maximum ) to 4th from bottom at seasons end ( minimum ). For the first season since we returned to the Premiership I don't think we will go down but that in itself could be a death knell.

    1st aim = 40 points
    2nd aim = top half
    3rd aim = cup run
4th aim = europa league qualification

as far as i can tell, that will be the order of our aims every season for the foreseeable future <ok>
