http://www.canaries.co.uk/news/article/20140613-pre-season-fixtures-1642715.aspx? Celta Vigo will be a stern test, but that's what you want a week before a long, hard domestic campaign begins
Interesting the team will spend 5 days at St George's Park, excellent facilities I wonder if the idea is to use there equipment to do a series opt fitness tests before the Pre-season starts
Ipswich on the other hand finalise their preparations for the season again the mighty Leyton Orient: 12 July- Shelbourne (A) 3pm 16 July- West Ham (H) 3pm 23 July- Colchester (A) 7.30pm 26 July- Gillingham (A) 3pm 29 July- Southend (A) 7.45pm 2 August- Leyton Orient (A) 3pm
If I was a Town fan I think I would be quite angry at the level of opposition for the last two or three games. I know they are mostly about getting fitness levels primed, but having relatively low opposition does not help to 'get in to gear' for the opening day.
To be fair to Ipswich they are only living within their means. It costs a lot of money to organise preseason games and Ipswich as we know are broke.
tbh, its not who you play, its what you learn from it, last seasons pre season was very much the same and it didn't do too bad for us. just the same as playing decent european sides didn't help you guys last season.
i think the ipswich lads misunderstand the joshing. pre season games are nothing other than glorified training sessions so in that respect, its irrelevant who you play as footballers, but as supporters, its far more interesting and exciting to watch a european club or top team than leyton orient, no disrespect to the mighty o's - great bunch of fans
I agree with you Supers! We've been drawn against Crawley Town in the First Round of the Capital One Cup which will be brilliant for me! Really looking forward to it.
Cambridge have got themselves a very good tie away at Birmingham! Fingers crossed that we beat Crawley, Cambridge beat Birmingham and we then meet in the second round!
I fear you could be right! I will never live it down if we lose to Crawley! Bobby Robson! Alf Ramsey! Mick Mills!... Your boys took one hell of a beating!
What I was alluding to was something along the lines of a QPR pre-season a few years ago when they played a handful of games in Malaysia, then a few back in the UK but never really played a 'substantial' team, won just about every game quite easily, took a lot of heart and confidence from the encouraging results, and went on to struggle in the PL. I thought the preparation was quite poor at the time, before the season got under way, and when the PL started, they got a serious shock, losing 4-0 at home to Bolton, and never really recovered from it.
