Delia, Wynn-Jones and McNasty live on BBC Radio Norfolk this morning from 9:00AM discussing the search for the new manager. Perhaps it's not going to be Malky after all ? Unfortunately I shall be at work with no access to the radio so if anyone is able to tune in please post any updates / comments on this thread. OTBC
Or maybe there taking people's calls on general stuff and the manager situation has come to a conclusion.
Yeah, I'm kinda expecting a managerial announcement, followed by a discussion of how they're going to move the club forwards. Slightly concerned as to whether Delia will be on the receiving end of something vitriolic from the "Norwich faithful".
That's my main concern too DH, she has made mistakes in the past, no doubt about it but NOBODY can question her loyalty and devotion to our wonderful club!
Delia admits they were looking to replace Hughton on January, but no alternatives (other than a caretaker) were available. As Hughton was still picking up wins at home it was decided that the risk in a change was greater.
A new "technical director" is going to be appointed, who will cover all things unrelated to the first team. Interestingly, that will cover things such as youth loans, which apparently Hughton previously was in charge of. Things like captains may also be debated by a technical panel, so that the decision is in the best interests of the club. I'd say that points towards Ricky Martin. A "technical director" will not be a "director of football", whatever that means. Nobody will interfere with the manager, they'll be trying to take on responsibilities that the manager shouldn't have to deal with.
Nobody has been offered the managers job! It will take a little longer apparently. Neil Adams is a "credible candidate".
Apparently Delia doesn't take any **** either! Hughton would have departed at the end of the season, whether we stayed up or not. Based on fan opinion, McNally expects the new manager to have less support than Hughton did when he was brought in!
A deal was in place to bring an attacking midfielder in from a top 4 club in January, on the proviso that that club made a signing. It fell through very late on the final day. There was also a comment about Ricky which may hint at him departing, but I missed the details. Something along the lines of him not being suited to the championship.
Some interesting discussions and seems like we could still be waiting for the new manager to be appointed at the end of this week. I know not everyone will agree, but I like the idea of the new structure - only time will tell. It's NOT a 'Director of football', but rather a 'technical director'.
Definitely NOT a director of football at Norwich, and quite likely to be a male manager as opposed to a female
I like what Delia is saying - "We will NOT be trying to woo wealthy foreign investors!!!! Norwich City will remain a FAMILY CLUB!!! HERE HERE!!!
Neil Adams, if not the outright manager, will be involved in the managerial set-up. Where will depend on who comes in.
