It has been confirmed that Norwich City Chairman (and Former Shadow chancellor) Ed Balls is the first contestant for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing

Speaking to Chris Evans on the Radio 2 Breakfast show he said he was "Scared to death" but describe taking part as a "Dream come true" adding "Parliament was much easier than this".

What are fellow Not606ers opinions on seeing our Chairman on the ballroom dance floor?

I would have liked to have seen him give more priority to getting the club back up to the premier league

Well, with Jez Moxey now resident, I guess Ed the Tread sees his role as Chairman as less important than twirling some honey around the dance floor

I saw a quote somewhere that he's going to start with 12 hours of dance lessons a week, and that'll only increase as the series begins. That did make me raise an eyebrow when it went on to describe his other commitments. I think I'd struggle to call NCFC his first priority on the basis of that.

I really don't know why such a fuss is being made of this! It will inevitably bring some attention to NCFC and as Mae West discovered all those years ago, there is no such thing as bad publicity!

I have to admit that I'm not Ed's biggest fan but that's down to his political leanings rather than his football allegiances. However, what does a Chairman (sorry 'Chair'<doh>) of a football club do these days other than be some kinda figure head? Best of luck Mr Ed I think you're gonna need it <laugh>

Good luck to him. If he does well and promotes Norwich in the process I can't see what the problem is now we have a CEO in place.
