Anyone got any thoughts on the apparent suggestion from Corbyn and co proposing football teams be nationalised? Apparently it is intended to return football to the people and away from big money investors, but that means a government overseeing body will be involved, which will by its nature will propose bureaucratic regulations with equality for all teams as a principle. An extremely boring future for all who love football it seems to me. Doubt if it will ever run seriously but definitely a dark route for all of us who love the ups … and in our case the regular downs of being a supporter.

I mean it's impossibly idealistic, but the principle isn't terrible. Basically an NFL style model where parity ensures all clubs get an equal chance at success based on good long term management and skill on the pitch.

Most importantly, it's high time there were greater obligations for owners at all levels to do right by the fans instead of (like Short) abandoning us when we got relegated to the championship.

I think that this is an impossible idea, and the tramp is just proposing something different to win votes (which will not work) :emoticon-0105-wink:

If Labour changed their leader, mind, they might have a chance in future elections, but as it is now they've got nee chance, 'cos of him :emoticon-0145-shake

    To answer the question 'good or stupid ?' . . . . stupid :emoticon-0105-wink:

It’s never going to happen, and well he knows it.

Lip service to those who feel they’ve been pushed out. No more than that.

The FA would tell him to go and **** himself.

I can imagine a Corbyn football world. Every team must consist of:

    1 x Tranny

    1 x Gay guy
    1 x Straight guy
    1 x Gay woman
    1 x Straight woman

    1 x Persecuted Palestinian
    1 x Black man
    1 x White man
    1 x Old IRA member

1 x Non gender human being
    1 x Bi-Sexual

    STRICTLY NO JEWS

    Oh the joys <doh>

Ignoring Mr C, who in any case appears to be the PR front for the much less pleasant John McDonnell you have to ask for an example of Government running a business based on competition.

Past experience suggests that they have been unable to run industries where they have had a monopoly.

Consider then how any group of Politicians would manage to oversee 92+ different Football Clubs.

I note that this was an 'apparent suggestion'.

    OR.

Come general Election time voting for the opposition because YOUR TEAM got relegated.

If it had been like that over recent years the local representatives would be in for a tough campaign:emoticon-0102-bigsm

The only problem with that is that there's no relegation in the NFL. Salary caps prevent teams from hoovering up the talent which is a good thing but you also have the risk of clubs tanking matches for draft picks.

The NFL also has the college system where most of it's talent comes from and they're all American. Would the academny's become the feeder system? How would you get foreign players into the leagues, would they have to enter a draft? Could you see Messi deciding for example that he wants to play in England and because Watford finish last he has to play for them?

Can't see it working to be fair.
