I have found some stats that I thought may interest some of you. As we all know the tabloids love to spread the gossip about; most rumours are made up on the spot to make column inches and increase viewer ratings based on the rumour they have stated. So, heres some stats that just goes to show how much they actually know about what goes on in the footballing world. Stats are from the 2006 Summer transfer window to Present. Number 1 Most Accurate Paper is............. The Guardian with 33.5% rumours correct. 'Realiable Papers' such as The Times and Telegraph only have a accuracy rating of 27.1% and 23.8%. I found this one the most interesting as I personally thought they were the most credible paper around. Maybe these rumours of AOC sold to Arsenal by the Telegraph are false. On average the News of the World produced 6.19 rumours a day, thank goodness they've gone!! So in top position at the moment is our famous friends the Daily Mirror with 3.17 a day. I think the clear picture from here is that we should take very little interest in what goes on around the tabloid world. Yes, its very exciting when we are linked with some well known top players but in reality its just a false accusation to make some cash. Then again I think us fans have become experts in the poor handling of the papers through Mr Chamberlain and how much stuff is really spouted out of there offices!! If you would like to see how other newspapers faired in the accuracy charts heres the link: http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/newspaper_statistics.aspx
Would be interesting to see stats on how many times rumours are regurgitated. The Mirror has reported AOC signing for Arsenal 3627 times already in the last fortnight. Damn, I must stop doing that. I've told myself a trillion times to stop exaggerating....
Here's a classic from the Mirror: http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/new...onel-Messi-World-Exclusive-article417589.html
