https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/nathaniel-clyne-back-action-melwood-14316136 Nathaniel Clyne was back in action at Melwood on Tuesday as Liverpool returned to training following their exertions in Marbella last week. Clyne hasn't featured for Liverpool this season after picking up a back injury, but underwent surgery in November in an effort to correct the issue. The right-back was named in Liverpool's Champions League squad for the knockout stages and waspictured with his Liverpool teammates as they underwent a warm weather training program in Marbella across four days of last week. And Clyne was back training at Melwood on Tuesday afternoon as Jurgen Klopp put his players through their paces ahead of Saturday's visit from West Ham. Speaking about Clyne's return to training in Marbella earlier this month, Klopp said: "Clyney is back. "Of course, it is absolutely too early to think about [playing] him, but he is back in normal training, so that’s cool.
Chocca at right back once he's fit, do we look to move him on next season and stick with the younger 2?
We've got no cup games to give him a run out and bring him up to match fitness and the young lads are doing a decent job, so it's not looking too finey for Clyney. IF there was anything else going on with him, I expect him to be moved on.
I think we need to look inside at CB first. The options are RB: TAA (first choice) Clyne back up RCB: Gomez/Matip/Lovren for RCB LCB: VVD. lovren as cover LB: robertson and the thicko. so... if klavan were to go as a 32 year old on relatively low wages that not a big deal. Then gomez could move to RCB and fight for a place there. IMo the point is moot this seaosn anyway as IMO he won't get near the team and will be doing a full preseason to get up to speed for august. Its nearly end of feb so with 10 league games to go after this weekend... he's really never getting near. The is coing to be an issue where he's done nothing at all for months to get right so simply can't be up to running now. I'm sure seamus coleman was walking first then running wihtout ball before coming back but a back will be different if he's basically laid flat for months.
In answer to whether RB has too many players Simple answer: shift Gomez to RCB and let him fight there with lovren or matip for his place. Do you sell a 26 year old clyne or let a 32 year old klavan go if you have to shift one out? Personally I think we can see klopp toying with 3 at back which suggests he just plain likes matip, lovren and VVD (perverse i know) so theres room for 5 cbs in theory.
mito has a very analytical mind and pays attention to detail. I hope he has a job that reflects these attributes
Dont see us going 3 at the back because we have 3 forwards. Unless you think 3-4-3 but then you have no defensive cover out wide. Our formation is is governed by our attack, we build from front backwards not the other way round.
Dropping one of Salah, Mane or Bobby to accommodate Lovren would not be a popular move. Unless, as Ibwtsays, we play 343 with no width and fail to break down the bus parkers
I think yes in general its not klopp's main plan but i think he is toying with 3 at the back to try and generate an exta body going forward and wide for these bus parkers I would not go 343 against a top side as I think its folly. You can be cut open wide all the time and you only get 2 cms so can be out manned there BUT... a team like this Karius Matip Lovren VVD TAA Henderson Lallana Robertson Salah Firmino Mane If a team plays 11 men back like some do agaisnt us. Well you park the three at the back and stuff the wide areas to stretch sides Klopp started off IMO holding gomz back and make a back 3 like gomez matip lovren. and then try play someone in midifled like ox or milner to go wide right to make the width if the team allows us In effect I have seen this Karius Gomez Matip Lovren Ox/milner Can Windy Robertson Salah Firmino Mane It can be 433 in the blink of an eye. really its robertson advanced on left and a midfielder going wide on the right.
