Have just seen on EDP/Evening news websites Norwich have reportedly had a bid accepted for Nathan Redmond, but face competition from Swansea. Hopefully he will join us following his links to Chris Hughton Norwich City reportedly have bid accepted for Birmingham Cityâs Nathan Redmond Monday, June 24, 2013 5:43 PM Norwich and Premier League rivals Swansea have reportedly had bids accepted for Birminghamâs England Under-21 starlet Nathan Redmond. Comments Email Print . .. Former Canariesâ assistant boss Lee Clark confirmed on Monday his prized asset is now free to speak to two unnamed clubs to discuss personal terms after the Bluesâ transfer valuation was met. Chris Hughton fast-tracked Redmond into the first team at St Andrews during his Midlands stint and the 19-year-old had been widely touted with a Carrow Road reunion this summer. The pacy wide player has already played 62 Championship games for the struggling Blues, but Clark admits Birminghamâs perilous financial position will force them to cash in. âThe truth, me being transparent and not speaking out of line, is that there are six to eight Premier League clubs interested in Nathan,â he told the Birmingham Mail. âThatâs in various different ways. Sometimes you get a call from an agent, then get a call from the playerâs agent, sometimes you get an inquiry from a fellow manager. âNow what we have had are three bids, two that have been accepted and one that hasnât been accepted. Now itâs up to Nathan if he wants to speak to those two clubs and see if itâs right for him. Unfortunately thatâs where we are at the moment and we have just got to get on with it.â (tried to copy and paste link, unfortunately did not work)
If you look on the Swans board they've got it down as a done deal!! Seems that Kyle Bartley is being offered as a sweetener in there deal which appeals to Clarke? Still think if its down to the player, Hughton's influence should send him our way?
Apparently it is now down to the player. Brom have allegedly accepted both bids, so it is entirely up to Redmond.
If they've offered a sweetener that's irrelevant, they've accepted both bids supposedly so it's down to the player's choice. Edit: Great minds Rob...
Well brom signed adeyemi today, who under the age of 24 will command a fee despite being released, so were actually ahead on that front. Anyway it's entirely upto Redmond, plus I assume anyother interested clubs could match the offer and the Redmond could end up somewhere else entirely.
I have a feeling were going to miss out on a lot of our top targets. Redmond and toivonen to name a couple!
I thought that as we released him that's not the case? I.e. if we'd tried to offer him a new contract, then we would have got the fee, but we didn't... Maybe I've misunderstood this technicality - the fee is always unjustifiably low anyway
I'm not sure, I would imagine that it's irrelevant or we could have offered him minimum wage and claimed we tried to resigned his despite actually having to interest too, so we could receive a fee. I'm pretty certain the system was set up to allow lower league academies to get a return on the money they invest in players more than for us to sneak a few hundred thousand out of Birmingham.
Can't see us winning this one to be honest. Shame though as he looks a great prospect and could be worth big money in the future
