Nathan Ellington has turned down the opportunity to rejoin Preston North End after their relegation to League One, according to the Lancashire Evening Post. The striker was on-loan at Deepdale for the second half of last season, finding the net twice in 18 games. Despite being released by Watford when his contract expired this summer, he has reportedly snubbed a permanent deal from PNE. Writing on his account on the social networking site Twitter, Ellington quashed rumours that he would be back next season. The 29-year-old said: âI wonât be going back to Deepdale Iâm afraid. âThings were a bit complicated for the club which meant it couldnât happen. âPhil Brown is a good manager and I wish him all the best.â Ellington is wanted by Ipswich Town and it is thought staying in the Championship is his preference. His decision leaves North End down to three strikers â Iain Hume, Jamie Proctor and Neil Mellor â with pre-season training looming and Mellor still negotiating a move the Sheffield Wednesday.
