Hope so, he is surpluss to requirements now and he is a tidy lad to not even make the bench if at all this season....he needs a move more than the club wants to move him...served us well but his time is up as a regular choice....Not quite a legend but well respected all the same....
I think you are right Valley, Barrow struggled on loan last year and I think he should go out again this year. Dyer played in total 37 times last year (some from the bench), whilst I don't think he will play as many this year, He is a great option should Ayew, Montero get injured, which they will do.
If dyer plays like he did from half way through the season then he is a liability and we really need better. If we can make a few bob out of him then sell him,,,, He may not want to be on the bench and not playing regular football for all we know and wants a move.....
He deserves to be given the chance to continue plying his trade at the Liberty. A very good player with bags of experience, I still think he can have an impact this coming season, he's been a great servant to the club over the years. Done enough to be at least part of the squad this coming year, could also help bring along the likes of Barrow and kenjie Gorre
The stick he got on here last season with some saying we should get rid.. whats changed. The club has got better but a few players stood still and could not up their game and dyer was one of those players and a lot of others if you go by the posts on here last season.....we cant carry players if they don't have much to offer and i feel dyer needs to be moved on for his sake as much as the clubs..
But Monk said that he's been playing with an injury that needed an operation. He was much better in the final few games.
Im a big fan of dyer and have defended him many times on here but even i admit he was poor last season. If we keep him then thats ok but i think if he wants regular football then he needs to move on and that's ok also........I have a feeling he will be gone in the next couple of weeks or maybe sooner....
I've always liked Dyer, but I do agree that he's going to be bit-part this season. If he's happy with that, then fair enough. But I think Ayew and Montero will be starting right and left wing respectively, and Routledge provides first choice cover for both of them as he plays both wings well. So the only way Dyer is going to play is if Ayew and Montero are both injured, or in the cups. If he's after regular football, I think he should move on. But I do agree that he's earned his place in this squad and wouldn't be against him staying another season. It comes down to the player at the end of the day - I don't think we can guarantee him 37 appearances this year and he might want regular football. Montero probably won't be as injury prone this term and Ayew straight away knocks him further down the order. We'll probably also look to give Barrow some more experience this year too. It'll be a frustrating year for Dyer if he stays I feel, unless he's mentally prepared for sitting on the bench or possibly even the stands.
I feel that we should keep him , he may not be first choice at the moment BUT the boy can still do a job for us and I agree with Valley if we have 4 good wingers that gives us plenty of options to change things in attack , which as we all know is the best form of defence !
I also thought his form was coming back towards the end of the season. At his age he is in his prime and I think he gives us several options. As an example Ayew can play wing, striker, attacking midfield. So Dyer could fill in for Ayew if he's moved in field or as a straight swop. Yes we have Barrow but he dorsn't have Dyer's experience. When you think of the different attacking options we now have it's mind boggling. All we need now is for them to perform.
Fully agree. We have a very attacking looking squad that is also very sound defensively. Looks like Monk has built the perfect balance.
I think Dyer could well be on his way if you listen to monk that a few players are about to leave the club. we will know soon enough...
Hope your wrong Dai, By Nathans standards he was poor last season but the grapes on the vine say he was carrying a knee injury which curbed his quickness and acceleration, his main weapons of choice. Hopefully he's all heeled now and his explosive pace, missing all of last season, is back enabling him to take on the bye-line just like he used to. Out of respect for him too I wouldn't let him go just yet. He's earned his place with us and I think he has earned the right also to have at least another season in a Swansea shirt.
He is still only 27, some are talking as if he is on his way out. He has at least 3 years left at the top. He had a bad half a season and that is since he has been here. As stumpy says he was carrying a knock during that period. He also played more games last season than he did the season before. Whilst we have strengthened our squad and Nathan may not be first choice, he certainly adds quality to our squad and I would rather that than be strengthening our rivals. Besides, we are all assuming that Ayew is going to hit the floor running, it may take him sometime to adjust and we will need the likes of Dyer. Keep him I say.
You can only go on his form and he has been terrible, I don't buy this knock on the knee milarky as im sure he would not make the bench let alone play. If he wants regular football then im afraid he will have to play it elsewhere. We are an improving club and if he cant keep up then he has to go. Im sure monk will have had a talk with him by now and will have talked about his future so we will have to wait and see what happens. I think he might just move on myself for regular football and i would not blame him one bit. I can see a few players moving on in the next month or so as monk works out who is surplus to requirements and not part of his plans for the season.....
You may be right and he will move on, this form is temporary and he is a much better player than the one we saw in the second half of the season. I am sure there are an awful lot of players out there who have hit a bad patch and then re-found where they were at before are we that blessed that we can allow a player with his ability to leave If he does I have no doubt it will bites us on the arse. Where I do agree he will have to accept he will be a squad player and not start as many as he has been in seasons gone by. I hope he stays we need the depth.
The thing is monk has to report to the premiership office in a few weeks and he must submit all the names of his squad for the season. with all the players we have then a few that was in the squad last season will be left out. apart from the obvious new signings and the regular players like gomis, ash, fab and the rest then i cant see any place for dyer tbh. who lost a lot of fans interest with his continuous bad performances... I wonder what the squad list will look like when it's finalized...
