So there has been a few things written about him after the final. I didn't really appreciate his tantrum during the match about the pen, but was willing to forgive and yes, to score a hatrick at Wembley is a big deal. However, after also thinking about the fact that he turned his shirt around to show off his name, more than the club crest wasn't great. When I have seen interviews with him in the past he seemed like a really nice guy, and quite humble...But the ones since the final have made him look a little selfish. So has anything changed for Nathan? Is it because he doesn't always start these days, is he trying to get him self in the shop window? I really don't know, and it's not a big deal, as long as he plays well for us. But it did get some negative press for him, and maybe us, as opposed to all positive. Thoughts?
A bit OTT on the pitch but the incident really finished off any love I was feeling for JdG and possibly singled him out as a player I don't want at the club I support. Shirt thing? Didn't strike me as odd, but there again the badge kissing (from players at any club / country) makes me just a little bit sick. Nathan is a star and should have had a chance to score his hat trick.
I thought JDG was all right in the incident actually. When we got it, I thought he should take it. He didn't do anything wrong, he has been taking all our set pieces this season.
Nathan is one of a team. Team comes first, winning the game comes first. Even at Barca, with Messi, team comes first.
I just dont get the problem and all the fuss,,,,what did he do wrong ???......He wanted to take the penalty to make history as the first player to score a hat trick in the league cup, rightly or wrongly depending on everyone's view he was over ruled ....end of story.......what is the big deal.....
Dai, I have to say that I've read some utter bollocks on here since we won the cup but none of it has come from you. Well said I don't see any problem either
Should Dyer have had it to go for the hattrick? Probably? But JDG scored a fantastic penalty and in the end thats all that mattered. The only thing I wasn't happy with was that Dyer had a moan at ML when he was subbed. But I agree with Dilli, considering this is the 1st time we have won a major piece of silverwear, there has been far to much negativity around here this week
Just to clarify I aint being negative. It's a topic of conversation...I've read a couple of articles on the web this week about him and what happened in the game. We are all chuffed surely. trophy and safety! If you don't want to talk about the club and the game and the players then that's your deal.
He usually gets booted all around the park and gets no protection, but did squeal like a pig today and the players got booked. I am not a fan of play acting, but both tackles deserved yellow at least anyhow. Rumour has it Gareth Bale sent Lil' Nath a message that he got bullied off the Wembley penalty. Perhaps this is a new, more "vocal" Dyer?? Time will tell.
1. The point wasn't aimed at you personally but in a general sense as there has been some negativity on here. 2. There wouldn't be much point in anyone being here if they didn't want to discuss those points
you watch how excited dyer gets when he scores a goal......that is passion 100%, He gives everything to the game and occasionally he gets it wrong and has a bad game but his effort and commitment cannot be questioned as he loves being a jack...you can see it on his face after we win....top player in my book....
as previously stated the whole penalty incident was nothing as bad as has been made out since. I don;t think any worse of Dyer and you can see by the reception he got when he was subbed yesterday that the vast of majority of the fans still love him too. I really don't understand why JDG should be getting any stick though, he was being thoroughly professional and did the right thing with the penno, he's been incredible for us this season and I think we are priveleged to have him.
I thought the spat with Dyer and De Guzman was quite funny, and I don't feel it detracted from the occasion, matter of fact I'd go as far as to say the sending off of the Bradford keeper, was far more disappointing, I really felt for Duke and the Bradford team, these Ref's need to engage the bloody brain at these big occasions. As for Dyer, I think he should have been given the Penalty, and what you have to remember is this, Dyer would have become the first player ever to score a hat-trick in a League Cup final!! So you can't blame him for being over enthusiastic at that point, anyway it's now the rich tapestry of the occasion..................
