Manager Darrell Clarke has been working overtime in a bid to bolster his strike force following the departures of both Jamie White and Adam Cunnington and Blissett has been identified as the type of player that could add some physical presence to the attack.

The Post understands an offer to sign the striker, who is out of contract at the end of the season, was tabled earlier this week and a fee is close to being agreed to bring Blissett, who scored for Kidderminster Harriers in a 1-1 draw at the Memorial Stadium last weekend, in on a permanent deal. It is believed that the striker is being lined up for a medical tomorrow morning and that Rovers are hoping to complete the deal in time for Blissett to feature against Chester at the Deva Stadium on Saturday.

Plucked out of the non-League scene a couple of years ago and has recently started to establish himself as a regular at Aggbrough. He has scored 10 goals in 61 appearances, and his 6ft 4in frame makes him a useful target-man for others to play off. First caught the eye playing for Northern Premier League Division One club Romulus and has also had spells away on loan at Hendnesford Town and Cambridge United.

He scored against us Saturday!

So, with Blissett and Goldberg joining does that mean that Easter may not?

Bristol Rovers completed the signing of Dagenham and Redbridge forward Bradley Goldberg and Darrell says that Goldberg is someone he knows lots about.

“Bradley Goldberg has come in from Dagenham and Redbridge, he scored a lot of goals last season for Bromley in the Conference South and won Player of the Year in that division.

“He is a player that I know a lot about, he is only 21 but he is a very sharp player who looks to play off the shoulder.

“I thought we needed to bring him in, he is here on a month initially because we lost Jamie White pretty suddenly so we needed to move quickly to bring someone in.

“There were a couple of Conference Premier clubs that wanted to bring him in but I’m delighted that he has decided to come to us on loan.

“Hopefully we should have another new arrival as well, if my other target comes in before Saturday but we will have to see.

Jamie White left the club on Monday after a poor spell but the Rovers boss believes that the move is in everyone’s best interests.

“Sometimes your signings work and sometimes they don’t and simply with Jamie it didn’t work.

“Jamie wanted to be playing more games but I couldn’t guarantee him starts to get him fully up to match speed.

“Lots of players these days just want to sit on their deals and get a pay-out, Jamie didn’t want that, he just wanted to get out and play games so for him to sign for Sutton I think it was best for both parties.

A Rovers 11 beat Cinderford Town 2-1 at the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday night and Darrell believes that some of his first team players that were involved needed the game time.

“It was a good work out for the lads, Monkhouse, Gosling and Balanta get some good minutes under their belts.

“Cinderford brought their first team so it was a good competitive game and I really enjoyed watching it.

“Everyone came through the game without any problems, Balanta got his first 90 minutes which is a massive plus so those lads will all be in contention for Saturday.

Angelo Balanta played his first 90 minutes in a Bristol Rovers shirt on Tuesday after recovering from injury and the manager was impressed with his performance.

“Undoubtedly he is a talented player but it has just been frustrating for everyone involved.

“He was looking good in training and then he pulled his thigh but he is back fully into training and hopefully can be like a new signing for us.

“Tuesday was his first 90 minutes for a long time but it is clear the kid has ability.

Didn't think much of him, I know he got their goal on Saturday but prior to that he had a couple of attempts that were quite frankly embarrasing !!

im not writing him off but his record is not great at all. yet he still managed to score against us which is good considering we dont let many goals in and that we have 1 of the tightest defences in our league. but scoring 10 in 60 odd games is not the goal scorer we are looking for. 1 goal in 6 games from him is the opposite to what we are looking for. but he will be used more in a position to hold the ball up and flick on balls to the likes of taylor, harrison and now goldberg who likes to play off a big man. he will be a nuisance to the defenders as well. dont expect goals from him unless we get good service to him but expect him to be more involved in the build up to goals.

there is more to it than just a loan deal!

we have signed him on loan until Jan where the deal then becomes permanent!!! we have paid a fee to secure him. he was going to be out of contract in ther summer but we paid a fee on him now rather then get him on a free in the summer to make sure we actually get him as other clubs were sniffing around interested in him. he is having a medical tomorrow.

Clarke said on the deal:
"Nathan will add a different dimension to our squad and provides us with another attacking option. Our supporters were able to see him in action against us last Saturday and will be aware of his potential and that he is an exciting talent. I’m very much looking forward to working with him.”

Chairman Nick Higgs said:
“We have been monitoring Nathan’s progress quite closely for over two months and Marcus Stewart has been to see him play while Darrell has received a number of positive reports on him. We have paid a substantial fee to secure his services, beating off interest from a number of league clubs for his signature. Nathan feels that he will benefit from joining Rovers and we are delighted to have signed a player with the potential to progress his career and help us regain our place in the Football League.”
