The 25-year-old joined Harry Redknapp’s side last summer from Norwich City for £8million, as reported by the BBC, and has missed just one game for QPR,finishing 12 matches and scored three times for the struggling Premier League outfit.
Fer has been one of the top performers for QPR, creating 36 chances, completing 80% of his passes and winning 59% of his headed duels despite QPR picking up just two points last five games.
Leroy Fer believes QPR boss Harry Redknapp has to replace injury-stricken Sandro
Despite being one of Redknapp’s best players, Fer could now join Napoli due to the agent of Inter Milan’s Yann M’Villa confirming QPR’s interest in the French midfielder who would be an ideal and experienced replacement for Fer, as reported by the Evening Standard.
Earlier this month, Fer had called for QPR to replace the injury-ravaged Sandro and claimed Redknapp was looking to add another defensive midfielder to the team. However, the 25-year-old also revealed that a winger could join the side as well.
Fer began his career with Feyenoord where he won the KNVB Cup before joining Steven McClaren’s FC Twente, where he played a big part in the team before moving to Norwich City in 2013.
Leroy Fer has won 42% of his tackles this season

I'm surprised he's won as many as 42% of his tackles, when he can be bothered...

So with a number of our summer buys not reaching their full potential, why the hell would we sell the one that has?

    He's won 42% of 6 tackles. Outstanding.

Big no from me.....cannot lose him
We do not have much (or mutch) in midfield
We do not have many that can play 90 minutes a week (Nico, Tarbs, Sandro cannot)
Fer is not a player we can lose

Sounds correct, unless it is a swap for someone at least as good. With the low fitness levels you mention, I think we need to keep Mutch as back up too unless M'Villa or someone else very decent is incoming.

    Thankfully it looks speculative.

If we swapped one of our most assured players for M'Vila (unproven at Premiership level but would demand a stupidly high wage) I would be forced to become one of the Twitter complainers, sending ten part rants to Tony and Amit on a daily basis.

Besides, the central midfield positions are set in stone with Sandro's brief quests to find his next injury marginally outranking Barton excelling at being average and Henry's gallant attempts to smooth over the shortcomings of the others ranked at third. Presumably M'Vila would shoehorn his way in at number 3 or end up on the wing.

Sandra can't play 90 seconds. He spends more horizontal than a long forgotten casket.
He's the most expensive mummy we've ever purchase.
Funny that, didn't know he was from Egypt.

If we could get back what we paid if get rid. Does he have the bollocks for a relegation battle? Highly doubtful. He's had a handful of decent games but has been awful overall IMHO

I have to say he'd fit a whole lot better into Serie A than the Premier League where the pace of the game seems too much for him. A combination of Krancjar and/or Taraabt can do what's needed behind a front two.

Just seen on the BBC we are having a look at Essien. I'd be really disappointed if Fer went, and was replaced by Essien...an older ex-Chelsea player. Looks like it won't happen, but worrying that it was even considered! See the post at 15:02 here http://www.bbc.com/sport/live/30515266

Would be a mistake in my view, he is the only midfielder who actually looks like scoring. I think his style can be described as languid rather than lazy!!!!

He's certainly "languid" generally but his repeated failure to track back is more in the category of "lazy". A good coach would soon knock that habit out of him! We are well-blessed with players who are able, or claim to be able, to play the No.10 role: Fer, Kranjcar, Taarabt and Zarate. Nevertheless, I agree: Fer is quite a talent, adds strength in depth to our squad and is one of our few goal threats.

Agree. Lazy bleeder who is a one trick pony - hard shot. Went down with Norwich as well so clearly not able to inspire.

If the price is right, let him go.
It would be a test of his real heart, if he chose to go where the prospects looked better despite us giving an opportunity in the Premiership rather than ply his trade in cold, dismal Norwich.

Had high hopes for him to be a revelation when he arrived, still remember excerpts of his first interview and how grateful he sounded to be given the chance and he has wanted to do well........................although all responsibility for his sometimes languid performances is down to him. If it's because he's played out of position, he should tell Harry that and not pretend that he can be effective on the left.

    San Paolo or Loftus Road?
