Fantastic news, fully deserved, hopefully he can stay injury free and get a run of games, on his day he's world-class and make something out of nothing, i'm glad he didn't leave. there was talk of him going to Arsenal, Juventus and Galatasaray, i would've been gutted if he left us, keeping him and rooney have been our signings of the summer.
On his day he is great, but his day comes around once or twice a season. He's one of the most inconsistent players I've seen in a United shirt. That said, I do think he's useful to have around and I'd rather keep him than sell him for £8 million and on his many bad days he's no worse than Young is all the time.
Speaking about new contracts, De Telegraaf did an interview with Alexander Büttner, confirmed he will start negotiations with ManU next week over a new contract with the club. Also confirmed that the club was close with a deal to loan him to Besiktas but Moyes didn't want to let him go, said he was too valuable for he team...
No basis whatsoever. He's done nothing for the last 2 seasons. Must have looked very good in training recently, that's all I can suggest.
I had been assuming that the only reason we hadn't sold him yet was because nobody would take him. Turns out there's some (misguided) faith in him yet.
Hugely talented player who is equally frustrating. Always got the impression he was intimidated by Fergie while Rooney never seems to stop berating him. Hopefully he will realise his potential under Moyes' management.
I can see why they'd renew his contract so he has a sale value but five years? He's an underachiever, no way on this planet is a bumper five year contract fully deserved, that's a ridiculous comment. Next up will be Anderson getting a brand new contract as reward for being a fat lazy **** who has a bit of potential, maybe.
The 5 year contract will be Eddy Three Planks protecting his masters' investment from a resale perspective.
Really pleased to hear this. Yes he is inconsistant and the most frustrating player i have seen but in all honesty, when games are tight and we are gettin nowhere, who do you look at on the bench and see as a game changer.
I'm hoping Nani got a 5 year contract because of his performances and commitment and training, and Moyes see his him stepping his game up this year. It's funny because when Nani is in form he's a better player than almost anyone in the league, except Nani hasn't had a good game in like 2 years!
Nani can be very inconsistent (an understatement I know) but along with this he is unpredictable... when he comes on, the opposition cannot be sure that the good Nani might not appear and destroy them. So he has that "potential to be great" element. If you think that CR7 was worth in the end £80m and more (titles, and other trophies) then if Nani has got a chance to turn into this kind of player, the club cannot let him go cheaply (even if that chance is ...10-15% at best?) which may explain the 5 years
