Cultofhandsome mentioned this on the old 606 and it had me laughing all week. Apparently there was a thread 'naming and shaming' all Schumacher dectractors. Our good own Ernie Becclestone was near the top of the list. What I want to know,is there any other Schumacher haters out there? By the way,I was also on the list.
I'll put my hand up. I wouldn't say "hate" but I certainly have a realistic opinion about his achievements.
I am not a fan of his but his record speaks for itself. He is one of the greatest racing drivers ever. The only criticism I have of him is that he had no respect for any other driver. He thought that everyone was inferior to him and that he deserved to win every race and was determined to win at any cost. However, if he would have behaved differently then I doubt if his record would be much different. He may have won a few races less than he did and maybe one more WDC than he did.
I loved Schumacher when I was a kid, when he retired he said that was it, I accepted that decision and also moved on with my life. I had found a new driver to follow in the sense of vettel and I had no problem with him filling massa's spot while he was injured in 2009. I also reveled that he was going to drive for Mercedes, but for me after half the season was over I was thinking Schumacher was only having a glory run and only for fun and past experience to move a new team forward.
I also left my support for him behind when he retired. I chose to stay with Ferrari, but can still respect what Schumacher has done, and still contributes. Yes he's made some big errors, but we don't know how much he's actually helped Mercedes behind the scenes. Him and Brawn were awesome together, it'd be wrong of us to assume they wouldn't be so now
I'm a Schumi fanboy and I don't care what anybody thinks, just like the great man himself! Is time he packed in though, got to say.
Do I like Schumacher? Do I hate Schumacher? Oh, hang on, it's not important in the slightest, and nobody cares whether I like him or not.
God I wish he'd pack it in - and let the sport return to 'normal'. Can't understand the worship of a clearly talented but managed Champion. His record is impressive, but titles were often arranged/rules changed/stewards coached, car with illegal features -YAWN etc. Fans don't bother attacking me - I really couldn't care less.
Schumacher is the man. I'll be holding a prayer service at 12pm for the usual Sunday worship of the great man, so you lot get yer glad rags on and I'll see you in . Few of you will be saying Hail Mary's for defamation of character, better reffered to as Hail Schumachers in our church, you'll get the gist of it, so don't worry. So, see ya there eh, Mind, 12 o'clock......
I would say I don't have the greatest opinion of him. I think he will be remembered for other incidents, such as 1994 with Hill, 1997 with Villeneuve, 2002 with Barrichello and 2010 with Barrichello, there are many more examples of this behaivour which will stay with him

He was disqualified for the incident with Villeneuve! Barrichello said that it was most terrifying incident of his life
