In no particular order: He waits 11 weeks before assessing whether an injury to a forward needs surgery. He loans out a forward who scores for fun while on loan. He brings him back and he continues to score regularly so he leaves him on the bench week in week out. He plays a midfielder in pre-season friendlies who was the most consistent performer and then leaves him on the bench for first competitive match. He thinks anyone with more than one leg is a quality defender. He fails the tactics course at the Kevin Keegan Institute of advanced tactical awareness.
I'm thinking becchio for his injury Somma for the bench Nunez for pre season form... Though Lloyd Sam gets my vote aswell And Darren no-idea but could be andy ob. Think it's time to see Tom lees His name is simon Grayson.
Is it the same one who signed a poor midfield on loan then had to sub him at half-time, only to play him in the following game and have to sub him at half-time again?
The Somma one is true, although thats in the past now. Nunez on the bench is a discrace, he played very well in pre season and that must have knocked his spirit, it wlda knocked mine. Becchio's surgery is a big concern, but most annoyingly is the letting contracts expire/run out which you dint mention in the above, plus playing players out of position i.e Odear, McCormack and Nunez. Nunez is an CAM not a striker so playing him up top with Paintbrush was pathetic
whinging leeds fans...what a surprise...one eyed...and who signed gradel for peanuts? ,sack him and who is the great replacement? your problem is his boss and you know it...
He takes Leeds United forward after years of mediocrity and humiliation due to substandard management and ownership. He's given **** all money to work with but still scrapes along and tries his best to get cheap players in who'll do a job. He has the team playing decent, attacking football in 80% of matches. He has an excellent points to games ratio. He has weaknesses like every other manager, whose faults we could be nitpicking even though they are one of the few good things left at this club. THERE'S ONLY ONE SIMON GRAYSON!
Well he's done a good job, you've got to admit his tactics yesterday were poor. And his signings have been poor as well.
He hasn't done a good job. The biggest humiliations have come under him. Just the fact that he is manager is the biggest humiliation the club has ever had!
Yeah his tactics were stupid yesterday (I'm thinking Ross instead of Billy), though I blame the players first and foremost for their lack of desire. They weren't pressing the ball at all and that was a major reason why we lost games at the back end of last season, though I blamed that on the fatigue caused by lack of squad rotation. Perhaps it was more than that, just a lack of effort from the squad. The games where we did press well last season (Arsenal away, Reading home, QPR home), we did a sterling job. Sadly it seems the players need a boot up their arse in order to be reminded that they need to close down those opponents with more passion. I'll leave Bates out of this, though I blame him for yesterday as much as I do Grayson and you all know my views on the man.
A good manager gets the team up for every game,if the players only raise their game for matches against the likes of Arsenal then that's the fault of the manager, not the chairman. if the manager waits until the day before the season starts before signing a CB of below average ability before duly pitching him in 24 hrs later at LB then that's not down to the chairman either. Yesterday had all the hallmarks of a manager who has lost the dressing room,of players who have become disillusioned with his continuous square-peg round hole policy. If Grayson had the sort of money available to Robetro Mancini we'd still struggle to get out of this league as his tactical deficiencies & lack of prowess in the transfer market would become even more pronounced. In the unlikely event these protests end up with Bates leaving that would only half the problem solved. On top of that off-field distractions caused by protests at this stage of the season would only serve to demoralise the players even further & we'd be plummetting back down to L1. Bates to go in time, but right now the best thing he could do for Leeds United is get rid of Grayson & install Gus Poyet as manager.
The facts are, Grayson hasn't fixed the defensive problems we've had since March 2010 when Kisnorbo got injured. Since then we've been terrible at the back, and we were yesterday as well. As much as I hate to say this, I think Grayson could get sacked this season. I hope we can improve, but if our defence continues the way it is, and with the team putting in poor performances in attack as well, we could be in trouble. I know it's only the first game, but with the difficult start we have, the team needs to improve and quick.
A manager doesn't decide if a player has surgery, that's a medical decision and taken by his doctor/physio/surgeon. And When Somma did start he performed considerately less than when he was brought on as a super sub.
Clayton was the most consistant performer in pre-season, and he did play him. Not having an operation is always considered the preferable option when it comes to player injuries and physios expected Becchio to be fully recovered in time for pre-season. I'm putting yestarday's performance down to too many bad indiidual performances on the day until there's any more evidence to the contrary. Certainly if we don't perform against Bradford I will start getting concerned (but then again we've never really performed brilliantly against lower league neighbours). The time to start getting worried is if we're in the same position in 5 or so games time and there have been no signs of improvement.
Some of us are aware of how limited Graysons freedom is, some people can't see past the surface though. A lot of people think that Grayson is the one that appears to make decisions and then justify them, so he must be the one at fault. When really anyone with half a brain knows that Bates is the one to blame. Bates won't let him have any freedom probably more because he gets a power kick out of it rather than money.
