Bikey Stead Carey My humble opinion these three were absolute superb, putting body and soul into keeping us up. Other like Skuse did well but I think these three were top class in keeping us in the championship.
It's got to be four...Cole Skuse was fantastic! Bikey, Stead & Carey sure played their parts too, that goes without saying...but Cole Skuse....
Gerkhen came in and steadied the ship when it was falling to pieces. (dropping James at that point was absolutely instrumental) Cisse broke up the play and protected a shaky back four. (did so all season to be fair) Carey kept a level head and brought some much needed leadership on to the pitch. Stead Ran his bollocks off for the cause and defended from the front. Bikey brought a physical presence to a defence that was very low in confidence. Skuse stepped up a level and showed some of his early promise. So thats at least 6 players who were in a team very close to falling to pieces from a confidence perspective and they were rallied together, shaken up and given a new direction even when it seemed we had tried everything possible to change things. There are only 2 people can take the credit for that, the 2 people who would have carried the can had it not worked out. Del and Doc..
Poor old Jim McIntyre, People forget that when he joined the backroom staff things changed!! My Players are Skuse his tackling was immense he was fantastic towards the end. Cisse was like he has been for the past two years rock steady. Stead I think he has always played with passion (wish he had a forward who would play along side him more) Carey done what we know he can do. Gerkin came into it when Jammo had lost confindence completely. Foster was mr dependable Pearson good at pushing forward. Fontaine looked decent when he returned. Adomah showed in glimpse's brilliance. When you think of it I never named the loanees who gave us a lift. All we needed was confidence so crying out for new signings when we have not got such a bad team. We still have Cunningham, Bolasie Elliot and hopefully Pitman will become that team player we know he can out score most strikers in this division if he wanted to. But to name 3 players as the title ask for Skuse Stead Bikey (wanted to name Woods it was only a penalty but transformed us with that win at Forest)
Sorry don't agree with any of that, it was the squad that kept us up, ask Del, some players may have performed better than others at times, but to say three players kept us up is utter rubbish.
I do believe that the players actually started to listen to Del and Doc, and stick to their jobs. Previously to the last 8 games they always started well but then started to wander around the pitch like headless chickens. Kilkenny we all know playing further up field he is good, but once he decides that he wants to go further back it all goes to pot. He reverts back to a whining heap of ****e that thinks every pass has to go through him. But further up field he can pass the ball well. Like BCFC Red states before that run, none of us would pick Carey but something happened round the time Jim McIntyre arrived, like I said they all started to listen to Del and co and perhaps realised they do not rule the dressing room anymore. Someone stated months ago, when Del was giving Skuse instructions he looked like he couldn't be bothered to listen. We have not got a bad team, just one that needed to be shown how to play for each other. What I do believe we have are a management team that will transform he players if they listen and buy into the plan.
Carey played less than half a season, most after Christmas and should have never been left out. FA cup game at Crawley he was seemingly the only player with any pride in the club.
Sorry take those three out of the equation then we would more than likely be looking at league one football this season.of course it is a team effort, but those three were instrumental in keeping us up.
