Hello,

A quick game for you all, and feel free to carry it on if you wish.

Simply name the two horses in the photographs (taken by my fair hand - Second needs some work but alas I haven't got the time at the minute)

First the easy one -

Second is a wee bit tougher -

I have no idea but I would guess one is The Tatling.

The fist one must be Secratariat. The second one looks like a side view of Denman to me:biggrin:

Please say this was a joke?!

Shergar you can come up with the odd ridiculous statement but this effort is absolutely out of the top drawer!

P.S. No idea who they are but i know that they ain't Secretariat (known as 'Big Red' because he was chestnut) and Denman (a liver chestnut, whose face is nothing like that).

Atleast I had a go Zenyatta, unlike yourself, yes the Secratariat one does sound silly, but I just guessed because of the head gear that most American horse's wear. The second one doesn't look that dis similar to Denman, and I've seen Denman up close and personal on countless occasions. Denman has a White patch between his eyes, I just thought maybe the camera angle was hiding that

I recognise the old building, at the back of the photo, and the paddock far more than the horses. However, as both your good self and The Tatling were at Bath earlier in the week I’m guessing that number 1 is him. Am baffled by the second one but will take a wild stab at the horse who beat The Tatling namely Spic N Span.

Denman always wears a cross noseband, and does not have a dished face like in the pictured horse, and has a star . I suppose you deserve credit for at least attempting an answer, even if they were both ridiculous!!!! :emoticon-0140-rofl:

The actual term for a cross nose band is a Grackle Noseband lol:laugh: sorry lol

A cross noseband can also be referred to as a grackle noseband, or a mexican noseband. Usually the term grackle or mexican would be applied to a noseband with far shorter cheekpieces than the noseband that Denman wears, which would usually be referred to as a cross noseband.

However, to a certain extent the terms are interchangeable, the difference i have described is precise and probably pedantic.
