Following a turbulent couple of days and several suggestions that those against the name change are in the minority, I thought I'd bung up a poll to gauge current thoughts on here. As we now know what the plan is, it's easier to pose a simple question on our name for next season, do you want it to remain Hull City, or are you happy for it to be Hull City Tigers?
An anti name change vote will be dismissed of course. The people who go on forums are a "minority". If in the end Mr Allam polls the fans in order to get the name change past the FA what section of fans will he ask: season ticket holders, people at the ground through text message, or what?
I'm aware that forum posters will be dismissed as a minority, but I thought it was at least worth gauging the feelings on here. At the meeting, AA said he would poll all season ticket holders before changing the name, though it now seems he thinks were called Hull City Tigers already, so as far as he's concerned there has not been any name change. We are pushing the FA to demand that a poll is taken before they will accept any name change application.
And who will police the poll to make sure it's not like ones they have in Zimbabwe? I know that's being very cynical.
The poll question doesn't include the suffix AFC... interesting. Is that because the OP knows it isn't popular?
No mate - it's comparable to (at one time) catching an East Yorkshire bus, as opposed to an East Yorkshire Motor Services bus.
I voted for stay as Hull City, but for reasons I said on another thread I fear it will be Hull Tigers, or Hull City Tigers next season. However this will hinge on whether the FA and or PL sanction it, which hopefully they will not.
But considering so much of the debate has been about retaining AFC it seems a bit strange the OP prefers not to use it.
But isn't he proposing Hull Tigers for next season, which is even more unpalatable. The only names I want using are Hull City and The Tigers, with the latter ideally just as a nickname and without the loss of the definite article. But I would prefer to be just known as The Tigers rather than Hull Tigers if he's hellbent on throwing our history to the wind. If he wants the shortest name possible, I would accept City on its own ;o) - then we'd be the only City called just City and really, really special and marketable. If we trademarked it too maybe we could force Man City and all the other 'common' cities into name changes. City is vital and a proud part of the Hull City name. When we were founded in 1904, it was only seven years after Hull had achieved city status, pride passed down through the generations. That's what I remember rattling on my rattle as an 8-year-old in the North Stand to the rhythm of The Routers Let's Go (Pony). Anyway in terms of the poll, Hull City please.
This is all you need: please log in to view this image .....and we're called Hull City - just as every other club with FC/AFC doesn't need to use that full moniker at all times - as well you know.
It's because our playing name is Hull City, it never was Hull City AFC, that was our formal registered name. This is a poll about what we'll be called next season on the fixture lists, scoreboard, tickets etc, they don't have AFC on them now, never mind in the future.
Like the rest of the silent majority, I refuse to be bullied into voting on something I have no control over, and don't care about due to the incessant (virtual) battering and abuse shown to anyone with an opinion, or who dares to question the CTWD Gestapo.
How do you know you're in the majority? (And you, for one, are certainly not silent). I mean, if you're so un-bothered, why even bother to let us all know you're not bothered?
I want our name to be Hull City. I'm pretty confident that when it comes down to it the PL/FA will fight our corner about the name changing to Hull Tigers. I also think we might have to settle for Hull City Tigers which is a defeat for all parties (us fans and Allam.)
