Nagy & Deano Press Conference Adam Nagy on life at City I’m buzzing and happy and I’m really happy coming back from the national team. And in two days we had a really important game against Derby and we won. It feels so, so good. There are games every three or four days but if you keep winning and you’re in the team you keep playing. That’s just the best feeling a player can ask for. Nagy on injury problems It [now] helps you forget what happened in the past. You were struggling and I had some really hard times. But I had some mentally strong times to dig in. And to keep working hard and even keep my mouth shut and wait for the opportunity and when it comes I have to take it - and try to show my best version of myself. Nagy on recovering from ankle problems An injury never comes at the right time. But sometimes I felt ‘why did it happen with me? What did I do wrong?’. And sometimes you are trying to blame yourself when it’s just an unfortunate movement. And it’s really important to try to get over the fact that you got injured. You can’t be sat at home crying thinking about your injury. A few days later you need to think about your rehab and how you can get back to the team as fast as possible. I think that’s what I did really well - I never really had an injury like this before. It was a massive one. Luckily from the team and my family I had people to support me. I’m happy to be back and can help my team-mates. Nagy on Championship We are on a really good run and when you are on a really good run you want those games to come faster and to show your individual skills and hpw strong a team you are. When injuries come into the team we have to deal with it as a team. It’s important that injured players don’t feel like they’re not part of the team any more. It comes down to us fit players to try and speak to them and to help them. A simple gesture can help that player a lot. I checked our schedule and I saw that we’re going to play every three or four days for the rest of the year. It’s unreal. This league is so unpredictable and so competitive. It doesn’t matter where we stand right now - we want to go higher and higher in the standings - but we just have to be constant. In two weeks we can earn or lose 12 points. Those points will count at the end. It’s hard and it comes to the point where we’re going to be tired - maybe not physically but mentally. I think that plays a big role in our live performance. Nagy on covid outbreak I don’t want to say anything silly - but obviously I was away with the national team. It’s never going to be easy. That’s why this season is going to be unique. There’s going to be things happening like this every single month - because you may not even know that you have it. You can go into the changing room and maybe infect someone. And that person may have symptoms and chest pain. But I think the club set up a really strict protocol that us players must follow. Otherwise there could be another mini breakout and if we don’t follow these rules then probably the whole club will get into trouble. Because if we don’t have enough healthy players we can’t play the games. I think that’s an important time: that we stick together. And even if we feel the protocols are a pain in the **** the protocols and the application to tell the staff how we feel with our body temperature and symptoms then we have to do it because it will protect us. Nagy on qualifying for the Euros It’s a massive thing for our nation. A few years ago we were living in the past. We had some hard times where we didn’t look like we were showing any signs of improvement. Now we have a team that is showing it can be dangerous for the big teams. I don’t even understand how they can put together these three [France, Portugal and Germany - in the same group with Hungary at Euro 2020 next summer]. I think the only question is who is going to finish second after us. Dean Holden on injuries We’re potentially going to be missing one of the guys from the game we just had. We’ll see where we’re at come match day. In terms of the longer term injuries, the six guys we’ve got out injured I’d be very surprised if we saw any of them back in this next batch of games. I think we’ve got 10 games right up to Christmas and if we see any of them I’d be very surprised. DH on players playing in the 'red zone' I think you have to. It’s a topic that’s been well discussed, right the way through the top end of the game in recent weeks. We are seeing more soft tissue injuries - there’s no doubt about that. Any soft tissue injury we get we take it very seriously ourselves. We look at the training, we look at the recovery. We’re two seasons rolled into one. Certainly in the Championship, we’ve come out of one relentless schedule, had the international break hugely interrupted by the positive covid tests that we’ve had and now we’ve got another 10-11 games in another short space of time. While numbers are low we’ve got to manage the load in training. We want to put the players out well prepared for every game - but at the same time we have to be careful with the amount of training they do between games. Looking back to pre-season it was really important for us to nail down the system and how we play with and without the ball. When you don’t get much time between games, that always bodes very well. DH on covid outbreak and affected players We’re just coming out of that. Han-Noah Massengo just rejoined the squad in the last couple of days having had some symptoms last week and wasn’t able to be in the squad against Derby. We won’t see how some of the guys are recovered until in a few weeks. Some of the guys were quite poorly at the beginning. But it’s just nice to see them all back training and doing what they love. That’s the biggest thing. To get a result off the back of the interruption was huge. It gave everybody a real lift and added to the spirit we’ve got. For me it’s just about getting the facts and relaying them to the players and staff so everybody knows exactly where we’re at. The plans, which changed daily, when we were going to train and then we weren’t allowed to, it was about getting the information out as soon as I could and being on the end of a phone or zoom if people need to ask a question. DH on form and the squad Huge credit to the players that went out there and got the result - they wouldn’t have been able to do that without the way they’ve been prepared by the staff behind the scenes. Even going back tot the protocols around training grounds. We had a guy here from Public Health England on Friday doing an audit and all that work behind the scenes enables the players to go out in front of the lights on the stage, so to speak, and do what they’re paid to do. Everyone’s pulled together. Looking back, it’s added to the spirit of the group - there’s no doubt about that. What we have to do now is focus on our next challenge. In a matter of days we’ve got Watford arriving who have got a squad packed with Premier League players still. You can’t take your eye off the next one because it comes so quickly. But certainly where we are, 12 games in, I’m pretty pleased. DH on training this week It’s been a little bit more back to normal this week. We’ve had a good session this week and the same this morning: a real good prep session. Numbers are still limited of course but it’s a little bit more back to normal. That’s been pleasing. As I say, the focus is always on the next one. We’ll put a team out there that we think can go against the strengths of the opposition. We’re under no illusions any points are hard to come by in the Championship. If you take your eye off the ball you’ll quickly get a whack around the head. It’s making sure we stay grounded. Some players are getting some good headlines at the moment which is great as it shows we’re doing well. But at the same time let’s make sure the full focus is on this next one. Very quickly after that we’ve got another one coming up at Saturday lunchtime. DH on fans return I’m hugely excited about the fans coming back to Ashton Gate. But I’m also very nervous and waiting on this announcement on Thursday of what tier we’re going to be in. Everybody’s getting excited but if you go into tier 3 then that could be taken away from us. It’s going to be an interesting few days and we’ll be waiting by the TV screens at some time on Thursday, when the announcement is. Certainly it’s moving in the right direction. The thought of supporters coming back feels a bit alien to us at the moment because we’re so used to empty grounds. Fingers crossed we’re in tier one or two. The quicker we can get fans back in the better, not just for the supporters, but for the players and the people who work around the stadium as well. DH on Saturday's game plan They are a team that worked previously under Phillip Cocu at enjoying the ball. We knew certain parts of the pitch we didn’t want to let them have the ball in. I think we negated that threat really well. Waghorn’s had a decent shot from the edge of the box that Bents saved but apart from that I don’t think there’s been a lot of action around our goal. I thought it was a great ball from Pato and a good pick-out from Semenyo and a brilliant goal. DH on only eight subs at the weekend We’ve had to look at this right the way through. It’s been almost impossible to bring up a few U23s players for training sessions and allow them to go back because of the bubble. That’s why we decided to bring Ryley and Opi with us and to keep them with us. We expected to have Han-Noah in and around the squad but he couldn’t be but he is in for the next one. Hence why we just went with the subs that we did. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport...ws/bristol-city-press-conference-live-4731381

Dean Holden gives 'truth' on Liam Walsh and Joe Williams' Bristol City injuries Robins set to face Watford on Wednesday evening but are missing one more player. https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/dean-holden-gives-truth-liam-4732995
Really terrible news about these 2. Think our guys are running on empty. Because of our weak midfield we have reverted to just defending our own half and playing on the break. Successfully so far but I wonder how long before we're sussed.
Saturday was a struggle, I think Wednesday will be a game too far, I can see us being battered, I hope I’m wrong, but believe our lack of numbers is going to hit us soon.
