    So Pardew has said he is "close to signing a mystery international midfielder".

    Any suggestions who this may be? - i presume it's not someone like Messi, Iniesta, Xavi, etc.

    I'm half wandering if it could be Hargreaves - yes that bloke who played ok a few games for England, transfered to Man Utd then played a handfull of games in 2 years.

    Or am i being pessimistic and thinking the worst?

    Can also see Pardew signing Boothroyd as he rejected a contract offer from Cardiff last night (Best and Boothroyd as our new strikeforce next season?):emoticon-0108-speec

    Everyone's favourite 'insider'/rumourspewer claims it's Gervinho. Other sources make it look more likely to be Jeremy Menez. There's been a few articles on it.

    We have missed out on a player who has opted to join Espanyol on a free transfer from Getafe.

    Espanyol have fended off interest from Newcastle to finalise a deal for forward Juan Albin from Getafe.

    The Premier League outfit were keen on the Uruguayan, but he has now joined the Barcelona club on a free transfer.

    Albin moves to Espnayol along with fellow countryman Adrian Luna. The Under-21 midfielder arrives from Defensor Sporting Club.

    Espanyol confirmed the arrival of the Uruguayan duo, who both penned five-year deals.

    "The Uruguayans Juan Albin and Adrian Luna have become Espanyol players for the next five seasons after agreements were reached with Getafe and Sporting Club respectively," read a statement on the Espanyol website.
