Valentine's Day, 5:00pm and after a day of subtle hints the missus tells me to "go to the game" I get in the ground at 7:00 and after a burger, I pay £26 on the gate and find my seat. 5 mins in and we're 1 down "£$%& it" I shout, but then up pops David Nugent to equalise and then send the City faithful wild with a stunning 2nd. Watfords equaliser took a massive deflection and at half time I am pretty satisfied. I thought we totally dominated the 2nd half, but in true City fashion we have the inability to score when we are on top. A Watford breakaway sees them snatch the 3 points, which then made me reflect on the individual performances. Schmeichel - Couldn't do anything for any of the goals. Peltier - Looked tired, perhaps needs a rest this weekend. Konchesky - Battled well as usual. St Ledger - Very good game and looked decent when he played at right back in the 2nd half. Mills - Simply not good enough. Not a leader and I think should be replaced both as captain and in the team. Gallagher - Put in some decent crosses and had a decent game, although too lightweight. Drinkwater - Decent player who was missed in the 2nd half. Gave the ball away at times, but ALWAYS battled back to amend his mistakes. Wellens - Slows play down, shouldn't start again this season. Dyer - In and out of the game. I wish he would head for the box when he has the ball at his feet. Nugent - Brilliant 1st half, 2 great goals, always full of running. Beckford - 2 assists and looked good at times. Missed a sitter early in the 2nd half though. Danns - Made some good decisions with the ball in the 2nd half, but also wasted a few passes. Full of running though. Morgan - Won some big headers and looked quite solid. Got assaulted for their winner! Howard - Didn't have time to make much of an impact. Is the season over? Head says yes, heart says no!!!! Thoughts please.
Oh yeah, our inability to win 2 in a row means that we are going to end up mid table. Good analysis, i only got to listen to the radio, but this is how it came over (apart from Mills).
Why do we seem to only get such deep analysis when we lose? Obviously we didn't perform well enough - arguable the worst performance in the last ten games - but it's imbalanced to slate the team when we lose while the forum seems deserted when we win or play well.
I think Peltier could do with a rest, his performances have dropped a little from what they was at the start of the season. I cant see Nigel using John Pantsil so i think Sean St. Ledger will end up going right back with one of Morgan or Bamba going centre half with Mills
