    For anyone interested that is.

    Mannone

    Jones, JOS, Brown, Aarholt

    Cattermole

    Giacherinni (if fit), Rodwell, Gomez

    Johnson

    Wickham

Pantilimon, Vergini, Bridcutt, Larsson, Altidore, Fletcher, Buckley.

Fletcher didn't do enough for me last week and I'd try something different against a vulnerable Utd. I think AJ would make a good number 10 behind a big target man.

    Thoughts?

Mostly agree with the selection, although I would like to see Mandron on the bench to perhaps come on as an impact sub in the 2nd half..

Don't you think it's too early for Mandron ?

I wouldn't leave Larson out, he was really good in the first game. Swop Giacherinni for Larson and id go for that.

Good shout but I would also find a place for Lars, he has a habit of playing well against the Manchester teams and also has maintained his good form from last season, AJ was tried in this role behind Borini last season, for some reason it did not quite come off which is strange as he has all the attributes to excel in this position, he is an enigma and I look forward to Gus getting the best out of him, for at his best he is a world beater.

I think he has been mightily impressive in the pre season games, so in my view if he is good enough he is old enough..

Jones needs to be fit, I wouldn't want Brown on that side again, we looked really unbalanced at West Brom.

I really like Giacherinni but those 3 would mean with have 2 new midfield players and Giach who hasn't played enough.

This game will be decided in midfield and Seb is guaranteed to put a shift in.

I'd rather have Giacherinni to come on after 60 minutes whatever the score is.

Why you leaving Larsson out?! I agree otherwise but would be worried about Jones
defensively in such a big game on his debut.

I do think we need real width and without Giacch I think this can come from Jones and Aarnholt. United play 3 at the back so we must be looking to get down the sides of them.

Wickham up front and Gomez in at inside left would be my choice too. Got a feeling Buckly will the not over Gomez. Surely Gus saw that Connor can't do inside left and should replace Fletch upfront?

didn't notice that Larsson was missing from the line up..He was certainly one of our best performers down WBA, so is surely worth a start..

Absolutely agree, I think we should gradually feed him in this season.

    I'd play

    Mannone
    Jones/Vergini-JOS-Brown-PvA
    Catts
    Rodwell-Seb
    Johnson----Buckley
    Wickham

Although it wouldn't surprise me to see Wickham on the wing again

Gus usually switches and swaps the inside forwards throughout the game anyway doesn't he?

It's where two footed Buckley will come in very handy. If I was Gus I'd tie AJ's left leg behind his back in training, get him both footed :p
