We started excellent should have been out of site within 20 minutes, should have scored 4 goals. Up until lukes sending off, i thought we were in control of the game. When he was sent off the game changed completly.Brentford made the extra man count well. I thought ayling had a excellent game at the back, flint and williams looked jittery. Pack in the middle is a weak link, needs rectifying. I really liked kodija this kid will come good will score loads i reckon. Freeman looks like he can hack it,joe Bryan will be fine, wilbs could find the championship a tad tough as will Agard.i thought the the rest have a lot to do. We need to bring in five quality signing,i think a lot of the league 1 squad are going to find it tough in the championship. We need to get some points on the board, wednesday against Leeds is the perfect game,if we lost this one i think the jitters could set in.
Five seems to be the number of choice, but we're a long way from that right now. Lot of work to be done but I think today's match was changed by the sending off no doubt, but nonetheless we have lot of work to do on the new player front and oh so little time.
Well a few people on here said we needed quality players just to be able to compete at this level, whilst the majority said what we had would be able to do a job. But with the season already underway, and for various reasons, we've managed just one decent signing so far, and the evidence of our relative lack of business is already staring us in the face. Forget the fact that we were on top yesterday until the sending off.....we still lost the game, so how many more matches are we going to throw away, and that's without the teams that will likely beat us anyway. Cant see us getting a lot on Wednesday either.
Pack, league 1-always likely to struggle at this level. I fear the same with Flint, great in the air but to much space given for goals.Williams not too sue about. Kodija will need to be more deadly. I thought the lad Robinson looked good when he came on, think he will do well. Bryan terrific in the first half, but played a deeper role 2nd which wasn't suiting him
I said to my mate when we missed yet another gilt edged chance in the first 25 minutes that we would pay for it. He said that we are making chances so not concerned. Brentford scored 3 goals from five shots on target plus an og. At this level we have to score a better percentage of chances.
Agree thought Ayling had a great game. As you said I think Flint and Williams struggled with the pace of the game. Pack without doubt is the weak link as he goes awol when we are defending. Unfortunately Fredericks does not seem to have the pace or the fitness to have any influence at the moment. Still early days, but you can see us shipping shed loads unless we tighten up defensively. I can see us switching to a flat back four in the next couple of games.
Kodija missed one at 2-2 which for him should have been quite easy- Brentford went up the other end and scored themselves- Seen it before, the championship is unforgiving at the back, mistakes get punished. We need to take our chances better and tighten up at the back otherwise we will be back to where we came from last year.
Just watched the goals on Channel 5, and for me Hamer was at fault for the first goal big time, and perhaps could have done better with the third as well. Is he better than Fielding, we will see?? As for the red card, his foot was way to high, but it was certainly not malicious, so a red may be a tad harsh, that said as many have put on here, if the same challenge was on say Pack, we would all (including SC) be screaming for a red card. Much work to be done with the defence, they looked very ordinary!!
agree Ayling great yesterday, but both (especially Williams side) wings had far too many through balls into space behind all game, and this was a worry last season, said at end of last season could we still play 3-5-2 at this level? not sure, could be wing backs and midfields fault too, but Fredricks did look very tired from very early doors, and with Pack and Smith we do have TWO defensive midfield aswell so, should be better than we have been. Got to say thought Smith played well and worked his socks off, agree Joe played deeper and he doesn't like it, but after his injury lay off looked very tired in last qtr of game, only to be expected. I did expect us to go 4-4-1 after red card though, but not sure they have even tried this in a game or even training, that's the problem!
Didn't have the ability to adapt after the sending off I thought. We will stay up but unless more signings are made and we can change tactics and formations we won't finish in the top half of the table. The first goal was because of a 2 on 1 not because of Hamer.
