Where do you start after a game like that? From our perspective the positives were, I thought we competed better today, we were always in with a shout of winning the game, I saw some passion out there today. The negetatives, weve got to be better in defence than we currently our, obvious statement but true, the worry is it seems which ever players are in the role at any given time we still look poor at the back, important to remember though that we should defend as a team the more the ball comes back the more chance the opposition scoring, I dont agree with not having at least one player on the half way line when were defending corners, and I dont agree with an out and out goal getter playing a wing back type role, although I have to say I thought he deserved credit for his performance today, well done Mr Riordan!! Lets hope you get a proper run in your correct position to see what you can do before your gone, natural goal scorers are a rare breed. Eaves worked his socks off and got a good goal, loved hearing Branston barking at everyone, telling Walker keep talking, putting his hands up when he made a mistake, good honest pro regardless of his ability. A word on the Bradford, loved how they attacked with 4 or 5 players bearing down on goal at every opportunety, puts in to perspective the task we had today to keep them out, a couple of quality players in their team. So a great game which had it all, really enjoyed it could only have been better if we had gained 3 points.
MM still needs to sort the defence out its a nightmare. If he can do this then I think the result will come.
Good summary SLSB....I suppose MM could say Kenneth and Branston need to play together to strike up an understanding....perhaps a midweek 'reserve' game would help. Agree also about leaving (at least) one man up when we are defending. Still not sure about Riordan, but for gawd's sake keep him away from free kicks! Bradford were a good, attacking organised side. Observations : where did the referee get 5 minutes added time from?; but having said that he added little if anything on for the argy bargy at the end; and, although there were 6 goals, I can't remember either 'keeper having to make a decent save!
Fair comments Pirate, me and my son were having banter in the Blackthorn End, could you imagine if that free kick had gone in, have to agree though up to now he has been poor at set pieces, I thought the conditions today might have tempted a hard low shot at the point in the game it came.
evening guys good improvement indeed. we looked dare i say it 'dangerous' going forward for once this season. i wasnt impressed at kick off seeing smith at CM with brown out at RW didnt get that at all. though here we go again! but it seemed to have worked. smith did well i thought at CM. bradford were certainly a good side and were gppd for a point to be honest. they played their part in a great game. i can see why they are challenging at the right end of the table today. think we need to remember woodards aint 100% nor is branston. give these time to catch up and i think we will get better at the back. kenneth and branston needs to gel as well. that needs time. still not convinced by walker flapping a hell of a lot at corners. im so nervous when he attempts to catch or punch the ball! fans were a lot louder today i thought and much more encouragement shown towards the players. final point, i have to say the players heads didnt dropped today. usually when we concede we concede another in quick time. but taking the lead 3 times, for us is showing an improvement of not giving up.
what the hell happened with the red cards? what was the ref doing? didnt understand why he took forever and why brown got sent off. was very confused.
Very good result. Bradford are flying at the moment and getting anything from a game like that is a big positive. I did wonder if someone would be out there with the hose pipes to get the game postponed! I'm sure a settled side will start to climb the table. McGhee's working a small miracle gven the injuries and sendings off. Like everyone else I'm fed up with the lack of success. But this has been going on for years and I think McGhee will get us into shape in the end.
