first, anyone who says big sol should be dropped or sold don't know what they are talking about..he was head and shoulders above today...kaspers kicks will earn us 10 extra goals this season, hell of a kick, let alone his saves...nugent looks class..and ain't lazy like another gentleman striker we know...johnson still needs fittness and to lose a stone, but will be class..and if he can stay fit.....konchesky very solid at this level...no worries there..ball, ain't fit yet...danns worked hard but needs to get to know his team mates playing styles better...yuki im afraid will only be backup...peltier ain't naughton but he will be ok...st ledger needs to get to play in a settled defence to give his best.. mills is fearless but should not try anything too fancy...there may be no new stiker for the chavs game..so i would play big steve who did good when he came on.. alonge side nugent for the flick on's...i think we can put that game to bed by half time...the chavs lost 3 zip and pick up four injuries....ps. adebayor in the crowd today...wonder which of the two teams playing today will he go to?
I would give Kasper MOM just for his annoyance at conceding the goals (it was only a friendly Kasper) and I like the way he blasts the defenders and midfield. A chip of the old block I would say. Mills was brave and committed Bamba was mainly excellent Peltier & Konchesky both had solid games Wellens same old Danns & Abe a lot of huff and puff but no end ball, not always their fault Vassell same old Gallagher weak, not enough movement, Nugent good performance but isolated
Mourinho has admitted Adebayor was there and he went in the Real Madrid dressing room but then said they arent in talks with him
have to agree about kasper, in fact i commented to my lad at the time. love the way he comes out and shouts at his defenders, god he even gets annoyed when they get a shot in, let alone score. also yes those kicks are amazing, and will prob lead to a few extra goals and points this season. c'mon.......
Played well against a team far superior to ourselves and kept our shape and discipline in those long periods without possession. Two slight criticisms would be that Nugent looked very isolated on his own but I can forgive that due to the numbers we had to get back to defend against them and the other would be that Mills didn't look that comfortable in possession of the ball. But on the whole very good and I thought the back three (GK and 2 CB's) worked very well together and Mills was the CB we've been crying out for; vocal, pointing and shouting at his defence and organising. Kasper as well was always communicating which was one of Weale's biggest flaws. Actually John, I thought Abe was quite good holding in fornt of the back four and got his fair share of tackles in, was very combative and, for the most part, kept Kaka quiet for large periods.
How did Ball do ? I´m still not sure about KS but the way he played v RM, if he keeps that up the all well & good. SGE, his back room staff & the whole squad have my backing. SGE will chop & change but we do have a quality squad so i´ll just sit back & watch the results come in. I really do feel that our whole team will be our key this season.
I thought Danns did pretty well, especially in the first half. I don't know why I feel the need to constantly compare new players to O'Neill era players but here goes anyway... Danns reminded me of Neil Lennon. Yesterday in the first half he would win the ball in midfield then play a simple ball to get play going in our direction again. Not fancy but effective.
You'll discover soon enough that he's just blaming them for anything that he does wrong. He alienated himself from the rest of our players that way last season.
I do agree that he may alienate players, but i assume they know this is how he plays ... he must have been watching his dad shout at Man U's defence for years.
But then you'd also say you'd assume we'd have known that was how he would play. Possibly we didn't expect him to actually just start insulting our defence to the point of them hating him!
Im goalkeeper for our 5-a-side team and despite not being as talented as our old keeper, im a lot more vocal. We've worked out that for a goalkeeper being vocal is just as, if not more, important than being a better shot-stopper. If you let the defence know who is moving behind them, and given you have a better view of whats going on, you can help prevent so many shots coming in. Now kasper is a good shot-stopper dont get me wrong, but what he offers vocally i think will help the back 4 a lot. With him and Mills we have come good leadership at the back (and Bamba? I dont know) and fills me with a lot of confidence. i think we have the best defence in the championship and will take a lot of beating! If we have maynard he is the one who will have the magic even when we are struggling to create and ill struggle to see how we cant win every game!!
Thought his vocals were a welcome change. If professional footballers cant cope with being bawled at, then diddums. Communication is a major part of a footballers game. We have had far too little of it at Leicester, with Wellens being the only shouter last season. Rather than stop one player doing this, we should encourage 10 more to do it.
Goalies need to be vocal. I think you are just jealous that you've lost a decent up and coming keeping and have bought in a has-been. Leeds fans were crying on their keyboards when it all kicked off with Kasper. Kasper will learn to be vocal without being insulting, IF, as you say he did piss players off last season. Funny how I never heard about a problem with kasper and funny how he really didn't want to be sold at the time!
Lord, you think it was **** last season just wait for this season - they'll ship goals like Africa ship refugees.
There's a difference between being vocal and blaming everyone but yourself when a goal goes in, which is what Kasper did. I'm not jealous, I'm glad we got rid of Kasper and Lonergan already looks better and we got him for 10x less than you got Kasper! What does it tell you that Kasper didn't want to leave and we were desperately trying to kick him out the door!
Simon, I think the refreshing change for Leicester fans was having a goalkeeper looking to talk to and help organise the defence constantly. Looks like we may both be happy with our new keepers from what you've said. All the best.
"we got him for 10x less than you got Kasper" Ps - I had been under the assumption Leeds paid somewhere in the region of £200,000 - £250,000??
