Just my opinion of how the football season went as a whole, feel free to do your own!: Premier League Signing of the Season; Has to be Michu for me. Was a hell of a signing and has proven that he can be a vital supply of goals. Swansea did well to tie him down to a new 4 year deal, so any fee they receive for him will be pretty damn high. Worst Premier League Signing of the Season; There were a few weren't there? I'd say it was a toss up between Esteban Granero (not because he's a bad player - he's actually pretty good - but for the fee, which was apparently £9m) and Chris Samba, who made 8 appearances and cost £12.5m. You do the maths. QPR are definitely stupid. Championship Signing of the Season; Well, it was almost going to be Sone Aluko wasn't it? In fact, had he stayed fit he'd easily have swept up the awards. Elmohammady on loan was also a great coup. In fact any of City's signings this year were impressive for their usefulness-to-cost ratio (bar Proschwitz obviously) But I'd actually have to go for Henri Lansbury at Forest for just £1m. He looked classy against us, can really hit a ball and can run the show on his day. Worst Championship Signing of the Season; I think most of you want to say Proschwitz. Most of you will want me to say Proschwitz. But I'm not going to. Not just because he's a City player, but because I think the impact he made when he came on in games was actually significant. He isn't a crap footballer, he just wasn't going to get in ahead of Simpson and Aluko and when Gedo came in, he was again going to be benched. Anyway, my worst signing of the season would have to be Blackburn's signing of Leon Best for over £3m. Who decided he was worth that much? Gotten Himmel! Story of the Season; I'd have to say Yeovil's promotion to the Championship. I think the sheer effort they put in was awesome, considering they were non league not too long ago, to now be rubbing shoulders with Harry Redknapp's QPR, Super-rich Reading and the likes of Leicester, Leeds, Forest and Blackburn is nothing short of amazing. I hope they stay up and show that you don't need a huge budget to do well in football. A special mention goes to the footballing nation of Tahiti, who somehow managed to win the OFC Nations Cup and will now face Spain, Uruguay and Nigeria in the group stages of the Confederations Cup. Moment of Controversy; Goal-line technology, racism, spitting, rape charges; there's been a few moments this season where football has made the headlines for all the wrong reasons. The one that will live longest in my mind was, although some might say I'm biased, is Hull City's farce with WYP. It's been done to death, but it certainly left a bitter taste in the mouth, especially when it was completely unjustified. But it was great to see us garner so much support from other clubs. I think I speak for everybody when I say that if a club that encounters anything like this in the future they'll have our full support. Moment of Madness; Leicester vs Watford or Doncaster vs Brentford? Both were pretty much carbon copies and it's surprising that the Foxes weren't a little more vigilant from that position. I'd plump for the latter, it was just mental to watch. The last few weeks of the Championship were also very manic, if you weren't pushing for promotion, you were battling for relegation and the madness of the last day spoke for itself. Moment of Boredom; The last day of the Premier League was by far the dullest on record. Everybody pretty much already relegated, title already decided, yawn. Expect it to pick up next year with three new teams coming in and a stung Manchester City and a Mourinho led Chelsea will be fighting for the title. Tips for next season; Premier League Winners; Chelsea. Relegated from Premier League; Stoke, Sunderland, Crystal Palace. Promoted from Championship; Leicester, QPR, Bournemouth. Promoted from League 1: Wolves, Peterborough, Walsall. Promoted from League 2: Burton Albion, Plymouth Argyle, York City, AFC Wimbledon.
Premier league winners Chelsea Relegated: palace, sunderland, norwich or stoke Champ promoted: reading, bolton, forest L1 promoted: sheff utd, peterbrough, wolves My two cents
Champions: Man City Relegated: Sunderstand, Stoke, Palarse Championship: Reading, Ipswich, Leicester. Relegated: Yeovil, Barnsley, Blackburn. Div 1: Sheff U, Brentford, Wolves
Moment of Madness TommyTiger is hard to argue with your 2 choices. Though you could also add or have the KC moment against Cardiff City. Hulls Proschwitz has penalty saved and then Maynard scores a penalty at the other end for Cardiff City soon after. Utter madness.
Premier League Signing of the Season; Van Persie for me, yes he cost a lot and wasn't an unknown quantity, but I believe he was the major difference in Man U walking the league this year. Without his goals City or Chelsea could have won the league this year. Worst Premier League Signing of the Season; Samba. Shocker. Worst part about it was it came after Harry made his ridiculous speech about not pulling the chairman's pants down and after he criticised the previous manager's stupid buys......pillock Championship Signing of the Season; Loads and loads of options here, a left field choice from meand one which ultimately proved to have a massive financial bonus was Palace's 'loan signing' of Zaha. Possibly the major factor in their promotion which was worth a few quid, without him from Jan onwards they'd have failed to make the play offs Worst Championship Signing of the Season; Wolves win 2nd worst, for hiring Olsen, then complete the set with no 1 for hiring Saunders. No way on earth that squad should have got relegated, ******s. Story of the Season; The myth of Warnock being this amazing Championship level manager well and truly fu*ked to buggery. Moment of Controversy; City being 66/1 to win the league at the start of the season Moment of Madness; Any of the last min penalty misses followed by goal on the break 1 min later, Leicester, us and Brentford. Thank f**k ours didn't cost as much as the other two! Moment of Boredom; Listening to Liverpool fan's views on football Tips for next season; Premier League Winners; Chelsea. Relegated from Premier League; Cardiff, Stoke, Crystal Palace. Promoted from Championship; Reading, Wigan, Leicester. Promoted from League 1: Wolves, Peterborough, Pigs. Promoted from League 2: No idea
Premier League Signing of the Season; Has to be Michu for me. Was a hell of a signing and has proven that he can be a vital supply of goals. Swansea did well to tie him down to a new 4 year deal, so any fee they receive for him will be pretty damn high. seconded imo. Worst Premier League Signing of the Season; There were a few weren't there? Readings signing of Mariappa from Watford. Awful and so it proved. Championship Signing of the Season; Well, it HAS to be Sone Aluko imo. The best player in the championship by far and not only imo either. Worst Championship Signing of the Season; With the exception of Bakary Sako PICK ANYONE from the collection that Wolves signed up last summer. No wonder they ended up going down. Seconded. Great story and hope that they can stay up. Many of the championship fancy dans wont enjoy going down there. Moment of Controversy; racism, spitting, rape charges; All have no place in football. Moment of Madness; Leicester vs Watford or Doncaster vs Brentford? Both were pretty much carbon copies and it's surprising that the Foxes weren't a little more vigilant from that position. But i will add the the final moment at the KC as well on may 4th. Moment of Boredom; The last day of the Premier League was by far the dullest on record. Without a doubt. Tips for next season; Premier League Winners; Chelsea. Relegated from Premier League; Stoke, Sunderland, Crystal Palace. Promoted from Championship; Wigan - Reading - Brighton. Promoted from League 1: Wolves, Peterborough, MK Dons. Promoted from League 2: Scun.thorpe - Portsmouth - York City, Mansfield Town.
