Good morning boys and girls, and those still undecided, Saturday at last.

Walking round the park this morning I found it cold and damp, but then Osca and I moved on with that satisfied smile on our faces, he does enjoy his early morring walk.

Enough of my private life, a big day here in the Northeast and a good day for us football fans, Newcastle to watch live for the lunchtime game on sky, yes I know many Sunderland fans cant, wont or don’t want to watch but I like my football and do have a genuine interest in how they do, they could go second and I think they will.

Then after the supporting act comes the big one, our boys at SAF party and out to spoil his day, his party and Gary Nevels weekend, will we do it?

In all honesty and even with my most positive head on, no, I cant see how we will, but, we could. Its that word could that gives us hope and keeps me going.

We know all about United, their players, their class and their abilities but, let me concentrate on Sunderlands players, class and abilities, yes we do have all three.

Are our group of players as good as Uniteds, no but they are still good footballers.
Are our group of players of the same class as Uniteds, no but they are still premier footballers.
Do our group of players have the same abilities as Uniteds, some do, depends on what united player and what Sunderland player.

There is however one area where IMO me can be as good as United, attitude, desire to win, togetherness, will.

United are known for their winning mentality but we have a number of players who will have that extra incentive today, that extra will to win and they will be key, if they turn up we have a chance.

Obviously we have Brown, Bardo, Richardson on the pitch and Bruce and O’Shea in the dressing room, all will want to do well.

Bendtner with his Arsenal past and want to win attitude.

Westwood with his first full game and what a game, will want to impress.

If Vaughan is out either Catts or Gardner will want to show why Bruce was wrong to leave them out.

Wickham if playing will want to build on last weekend and show why we paid 8 mil for him.

Sess and Larsson will want to show how can compete with the best.

The team will want to continue to show their improvement, know they are the underdogs and will want to prove everyone wrong.

Of course all that will mean nothing if we either don’t turn up or turn up late and go a goal down early, we know we are capable of both.

I don’t expect 3 points but I do hope for them. I do expect 100% from warm up to final whistle and will accept nothing less, over to you Bruce.

Hoping by the time i return around Wednesday, this board is all jovial, and we are higher in the league..

If not, at least a decent performance..

    Enjoy the game.

Seen manure a few times this season, on't-telly like -and they can be rattled by teams that play with passion and commitment. If we chase every ball, get in among them, create a chance or two and give it a real go, then the implausible is possible.

If the fans can come up with 'sing your hearts out for the lads', why shouldn't we expect the players to run their socks off for their fans?

Anything other than a defeat would be a massive bonus...I'm stuck at work until 7 tonight, so will be trying to listen to the game on the radio...
