In case anyone is interested, I'll be releasing an eBook* at some point this month (end of Jan hopefully). Without giving too much away, âPlateauâ is the short story of Martin Martin who, mid-life and mid-love, is on his way to the Interview that could return his life to purpose. Hopefully it combines the best surrealist humour of Peter Cook and Armando Iannucci, the horror of modern monotony favoured by JG Ballard and the unexpected treachery of Roald Dahl; balanced with a little niche-pastiche of my own. It's going to be a very short story, about 12 pages I think, and I would love for you all to read it (it'll be dirt cheap too)! I've set up this little site here www.writingwrongs.co where you can see more about me and my writing - there's some taster texts here which might make some good lunchtime reading http://writingwrongs.co/free-shorts/ (I particularly recomend The Gas Man Cometh), as well as a sceptical picture of me in real life if that floats your boat. Apologies for clogging up the board with non-Charlton related goods; some of you were very supportive of my previous venture with 'sendawaythetigers' so thought this may be of interest. I'll be sure to let you know when it's out proper. Thanks! *I'm told it can be downloaded regardless of whether you have a Kindle thing or not, possibly as some sort of pdf thing, so you now have no excuses. Sorry. Personally I'm not a fan of Kindles as I like to judge a book by it's cover. There you are, you can use that in the office tomorrow or as a chat up line on the train. It probably won't work but you never can tell eh?
Yes, my carer got me a Dictionary for Christmas. The film rights for 'And Don't Forget The Kray Twins' remain very available.
Hi Kish I tried to send you a PM but your inbox is full. Can you make some space and I will re-send the message? Cheers, pal
My eBook 'Plateau' is finally out - it came out yesterday but I assumed you'd all be preoccupied! It costs 77p to download from Amazon and is just over 10 pages - it won't take up too much of your time and I'd be very grateful to anyone who takes a chance on it! I'm sure you'll enjoy it too! It's only available on Kindle at the moment - if you don't own a Kindle you can download an e-reader for free from the Amazon website Here's the synopsis: Martin Martin, mid-life and mid-love, has never taken a chance in his life. Now he finds himself an interview away from the promotion that would return purpose to his world. But will he ever make it to the interview? Plateau combines the surrealist humour of Peter Cook and Armando Iannucci, the horror of modern monotony favoured by JG Ballard and the unexpected treachery of Roald Dahl; balanced with a little of the Authorâs own niche-pastiche. And if anyone has any know-how on how to promote this then, again, I'll be much obliged! Thanks in advance Ross www.writingwrongs.co
I've just written a Play and it's mainly about IKEA; it was ghost-written by Acworth. One of those 3 points is a lie. PS. No Ackworth ghost writer/hunter puns please. Play nice.
Is it possible to read on a commute these days? The tube was so crammed yesterday that I couldn't help noticing the guy on my right had a severe ear wax problem, and the guy to my left needed an anti dandruff shampoo.
Hmm perhaps that's a gap in the market for commuter books - 'Diagnosing Passengers' or something... There is, actually, quite a good if slightly unorthodox passage in 'Plateau' about the art of commuting that also namechecks The Corrs.
