Leroy Fer and Sandro in attendance at the Story of QPR film premiere Midfield duo join QPR legends including Gareth Ainsworth, Marc Bircham and Kevin Gallen R'Story charts R's history with QPR in the Community Trust and Octavia Foundation STARS from QPR’s past and present were out in force on Thursday night for the Story of QPR film premiere R’Story at London’s Westfield. Former R’s including Gareth Ainsworth, Marc Bircham, Kevin Gallen, Andy Impey and Mark Lazarus were in attendance, as well as current First Team duo Leroy Fer and Sandro alongside Under-21s youngster Michael Petrasso. R’Story – as chosen by the fans – explores the highs and lows of QPR during the R’s 133-year existence, charting the history of the club from its very beginnings in 1882 to the present day including promotion back to the Premier League. “It was an amazing film,” Fer told www.qpr.co.uk. “I was already proud to play for QPR but I feel even prouder now.” The R’s midfielder, who showed his support on crutches as he continues his recovers from injury, joked after seeing those who have worn his famous number 10 shirt previously during the film, including the likes of Stanley Bowles, Rodney Marsh and the prolific Gallen. “I’m really proud to wear the shirt,” he said. “But I think I might need to score some more goals!” Fer and co. were amongst a 200-strong audience invited by QPR in the Community Trust and the Octavia Foundation for an exclusive first look on the big screen. The 60-minute film is the culmination of two years’ work which has seen the intergenerational media project engage supporters, young people and the local community. The project has worked with youngsters aged 16-24 years old, many of whom not currently in education, employment or training – equipping them with both skills and experience which has ranged from researching old artefacts to following the R’s memorable route to Wembley last May. An award made by the Premier League and the PFA (Professional Footballers Association) alongside a £8,000 donation from QPR 1st Supporters Trust have helped support the costs of the project along the way. “It’s been an amazing journey,” Andy Evans, Trust CEO, added. “The great thing is I’ve seen 30 young people really grow in confidence through the project and learn so many new skills. “Some of those young people have used those skills to go off and seek employment with some brilliant outcomes.” Some of the 35 young people involved introduced the film, led by co-director Max Robson. He also took centre stage following the screening to take questions on a panel consisting of Gallen, longstanding supporters Rabbi Ariel Friedlander and BBC broadcaster Robert Elms – all of whom feature prominently in the film – as well as fellow Story of QPR member Ankit Patel. Another member involved, Ayo Bodunrin, added: “I’m honoured to have given my free time to this project. It was a team effort with the Octavia Foundation and all the young people working together. “I’ve learned about the history of the club and what it means to the local community.
