Remember those heady days of months gone by and the pride we had. Unlike other clubs, those up the road for one, we had a solid team of owner-chairman-manager. Steady and stable who worked together for the long term future of our club. The real strength of a steady, stable and GOOD team is not how we all shout,”Well done”, during the good times, that’s easy, it’s sticking together during the hard times, that’s when a team is judged and tested, Now our strong team, I read, will have no balls if they don’t sack Bruce, have they really become that bad? Short is no fool, he will want answers to the many questions asked but you don’t become a billionaire or even a successful businessman by not looking at all the facts before deciding what to do. Results have been bad, our performances are well below what’s expected and some signings are questionable but they are not the full facts. I’m more than happy to let the people I sill trust to take their time then I will back, 100%, their judgment, no, not because I’m a sheep but because I don’t know all the facts, they do.
I wouldnt sack him, but he has made big mistakes..... The training cant be right if we get this many injuries and the team look this leggy by christmas. We seem unable to hold onto the initiative in a game and look ready to let teams back into a match. I also have big issues with the lack of leadership/maturity in the squad, its all well and good building for the future but not at the expense of our current position. That said i do think (the majority) of the players are with him and i think even in the early part of saturdays game it was as good a stuff as we have played in a while. There are also promising signs with the younger players who will learn and improve an awful lot after this campaign.
There's no denying that the first 40mins on Saturday was decent. It was the second half capitulation and the usage of Nedum up top that infuriated me. I'm calmer now, but far from forgiving.
Good post Syd and I agree with every word. A manager and squad that take us to 6th in the league by January cannot be bad and fail as we have done without good reason. I know many of us are sick of the Bruce endless tape interview when he blames injuries, but it is the main reason for our poor performances. Yes, he has made some dodgy buys but name me a manager who hasn't, even Ferguson paid mega bucks for Veron who was an abject failure wherever he went in Englaish football. I do agree with the criticism that he chooses too many players out of position and has not given the likes of Revieros (sp) a fair chance to settle into the team and prove his worth or otherwise. I think he should have one more season but he must learn the lessons of this years shambles and act on it.
Agree with that.....Palacios didnt get a look in with Bruce in his first season at Brum but when Bruce took him to Wigan he was excellent. Im not saying the same will happen with Riveros but Bruce does have some form with his imports. I am dissapointed with the Angeleri debacle tho, the lad has only had about 10 premier league minutes and very little reserve team exposure. He surely cant be that bad (although i was on holiday for the Notts County game) and if he is that bad, why buy him?
I dont think anyone is saying Bruce is perfect or even he must stay, all I am saying is the endless Bruce out cries serve no purpose to me. We must trust Short and Quinn or we may lose them both.
NICE ONE SYD i feel like a chorus of land of hope and glory after that one, thats the spirit mate 5 from me
Nuff said on this subject Syd, think everyone has let his/her feeling be known, roll on next season,,,,,,,,Again.
